Seems bizarre to me that Nicholson on two occasions performs minor miracles and I did think this season given time he would get the club ending the season mid table and a few games in thrown out the door, poor management which has continued to the present position.

Think it needs a legal guy to properly interpret it,the way I understood it In my layman's terms were that Plainmoor as things stand cannot be purchased as a free hold from the council and had to remain as a sporting venue.

Quite true Yorkie social media can be banal and mind numbing with the tripe that some people post but unfortunately a necessary evil.Again I may be spouting tripe myself but on the likes of F book you can post items eg:the position the club is in and try to forge interest with "friends",on there but also can circulate by "sharing", this news to a large number of people overall many not even known.A bit like pyramid building. It could be mentioned in post about the need for assistance in any way including financial. If many did that we could reach a large audience far and wide quickly.Again I may be talking bull just an idea.

An online site that appeared out of the blue asked the question,Why are Torquay United doing so badly?,out of the majority of replies many idiotic being that they are s--t,hardly any of them realised the reason why the club is in the position it is.Other responses included I live in Paignton but support Exeter because they're better! And there lies the irony many people would support another team from elsewhere due to success though if they'd supported Torquay with increased gates etc maybe over the years it would not have lead to the current situation. It is also sad that as others have mentioned there are many local people who are so disinterested in the club they neither know or care how the club has reached its current position.

He started a business from his home on nothing evidently so a shrewd business brain and had the interests of the club at heart so the perfect owner for a club like Torquay, sadly times have changed for most clubs and the people in football nowadays are often in it for self interest without thought for the club's as a whole.

For a large club one of the most under achieving for sure all down to owners with using clubs as a cash cow,for Torquay it's worse like you say as the current owner has no interest in the team whatsoever and again is looking for personal gain which however things pan out I hope he cannot gain the free hold to achieve what he intended from day one.

He got them promoted for sure but also managed to get them relegated on more than one occasion, the same thing is happening this year he's trying to survive without re investing in the squad, the supporters are fed up with him and he's treated them badly for a long time, admittedly he took Benitez but he's getting more and more frustrated with the lack of investment in players for the current window.Ashley wants to sell getting the utmost fee but without currently improving the squad hence the new interested party stalling on buying the club.Every Newcastle fan would relinquish a week's wages to see the back of him.Mike Bateson is someone Torquay could do with now he was often derided but stabilized the club for years unlike the current encumbent.

You are spot on with the summary as Nicholson was treated disgracefully he was committed and showed enthusiasm maybe not the most experienced manager but he'd saved the club twice and to sack him after 4 games I feel was all part of the plan.Players at least wanted to play for him,I've seen post match interviews with Owers and how depressing he sounds like he's just returned from his mother's funeral ,he couldn't motivate The Don.Again all part of the bigger plan for the demise of the club I fear ,who would want to put their life on the line for a manic depressive like him.tufcyellowarmy wrote: ↑14 Jan 2018, 06:02 Woken up early after a sleepless night.
I really couldn’t face my thoughts after the game as I’ve never been more hacked off after leaving Plainmoor.
As for the game .... well at least it wasn’t shocking , and at times was quite entertaining.
Matthews was the best player on the pitch. An aggressive pest in midfield who ran the show in periods in the first half.
As for us ..... well all to predictable .
Young and Gosling were the pick of our bunch with Davis looking a class act. No penetration in the final third and everyone knew Reid was going to miss the penalty, which I thought was harsh to say the least from where I was stood.
My conclusions are these.
We are certain for relegation and have been for some time since we appointed Owers and Kuhl.
Nicho was a better Manager than these two by a mile. The thing is he gave a shit.
He cared , showed passion on and off the field and the players actually wanted to play for him.
Despite any faults , which we all have , to get shot after 4 games was scandalous. If it was Harrops doing as I’m led to believe then I hope he gets his come uppance.
Our performance was ok and at times we played some good stuff. But we looked brittle, predictable and utterly beatable which is why we are going down.
We are not rubbish anymore Is up there with Alan Hansens.. you’ll never win anything with kids ... remark or even Neville Chamberlains ... peace in our time speech .
Listening to Owers interviews is the most depressing , monotone drawl you can imagine. John Major had more charisma.
As for some of our supporters. Singing “ we are shit” is pathetic. But it’s pointless trying to educate people like that but no wonder it got tease at the end.
Depressing.....
All very sad and disappointing that such a person has been allowed to own a football club and gradually run it into the ground for his own personal gain.
