Aveley v Torquay United
Hopefully a 4-0 win for Torquay but you know what we’re likely to do, succumb to a limp 1-0 defeat is sooooo Torquay

Gary Johnson, stick or twist?
Twist, without a doubt.
But, who on earth in their right minds would take on such a basket case of a club right now ?
If GJ & AD are given their marching orders I can see the 'board' going as far as Hall & Moxey in a joint player managing role ( if they were agreeable, that is ! ) at best.
Have the owners got the will & compassion to address the current decline ? For me the answer is no, this is a deliberate act in gently & surely bring the club to its knees & then turning off the life support.
Sad but true, we are all complicit in its demise, as supporters we are allowing it to happen, we have a voice and all we do is tap away at our keyboards & vent our frustrations, to which the club obviously ignore.
Are there any protests during matchday? Not that I hear loud & vociferous angst towards the board & management at all, there were a few murmurs of GJ out yesterday but all in all it was quite a pathetic rant that never really got going.
If we really want a change then we gave to make it known constantly, accepting this constant dross is IMO is complicit in the clubs managed decline
We have a voice, together it can be loud enough to make a difference, after all it is our club always has been & always will be.

Absolutely nothing wrong with rebuilding if & only if you use the right materials.
No good building an igloo in the desert !
Cheap & cheerful just to get squad numbers up is a false economy, we want fullbacks to play at fullback, wingers to hug the touchline etc etc, square pegs in round holes will not win you this league period.

Can We Make the Play Offs?
At the risk of being shot down in flames by the usual suspects.
Losing Armstrong & Sparkes is a massive hit in quality that will unlikely be replicated by what will be available to us, Perrit not so much.
Horses for courses in this league will get you results, not namby pamby U23 show ponies, players who, as said by GJ, need to be Torquified & so far I haven't seen much of that this season, it's getting there but for this season I'm afraid we'll all gave to hang in to the derby wins as our high point moments.
We aint going up & we ain't going down, I don't think trying to scrape into & maybe fluking the playoffs will do us any favours in the long run, they say you should never look a gift horse in the mouth but as a club we need to be ready to compete in the EFL ( if we get there ) and right now we're not ready..
Let's use the rest of this season to recruit PROPERLY for a change, 1 or 2 rough diamonds a seasoned old pro who can play more than at a 1 in 5 off ratio , the structures there for a successful competitive football club let's realise our potential .

Back to to thread in case it starts goes awry !
We are a rudderless shit team & heading for NLS in a heartbeat.
How can a club be allowed to go in this direction so quickly ?
Truly shocking state of affairs

So you're saying divingboy, that Gary Johnson cannot be held responsible for the utter dross brought into this club under his tenure ?
Well who's fault is it then?
And who are the recruits that have done very very well I wonder ?
Can you name names?

Well right at this moment in time there are 16 managers in our league doing a better job than GJ.
Asking pertinent questions is not sucking up to Merses sphincter, the trouble with our club from the chairman right down throughto the majority of supporters is a willingness to accept less than mediocre performances.
When Owers was in charge there was vitriolic abuse left right & centre in this forum, now when anybody who has a set of functioning eyes can see we are heading down the same road.
The management need calling out, CO & GE ,hopefully should be questioning why we are so shit & set a reasonable timeline for improvement ( next 6 games )
If not we are already doomed to NLS again.

It's at times like these that the bleeding obvious needs to be prominently etched in our minds.
Why are some supporters happy with the notion that
" oh I thought we'd struggle this season "
" it's only to be expected , cuz we was robbed " ?
Once again , a la Hargreaves, Nicholson, Owers we have a squad of players who are not fit for purpose in this league.
As much as I admire Danny Wright for what he did for us last year, that is now history, as of today, he is a perma crock, a 37 year old who just wont cut it again at this level.
Omar !! Not good enough, far too erratic
Holman is past it too
Rogers, signed on the back of two worldies & has done next to nothing since.
Little just hasnt got the sort of player around him to make him shine, hence he's trying far to hard & it's not going for him, despite his excellent goals & assist record.
On, GJ has outed his players shortcomings & made it public they aren't up to the task in hand, so whis outing the management for their shortcomings & inability to put a competitive squad together?
The buck stops right at GJ's door, he signed this shower of shite & he's got to own it plain & simple.
I have no doubt some of you will be apoplectic about this & our Gary can do no wrong, but we just can't be allowed to pootle through this season hoping amongst hope that there are 3 more teams worse than us.
Barnet apparently are crap, Aldershot are even crappier, Southend ? Well theyve done something about it in bringing in John Still to assist.
It'll be an absolute miracle if we survive the drop this season at this rate.
None of us should accept what is going on on the pitch, it just isnt an acceptable reason to say
" we were bound to struggle, it's exactly what I expected "

Now say a crisis isn't looming.
Poor game management
Under par recruitment
A manager & assistant who have lost their way.
Apathy set in amongst a lot of supporters who think Gary & co can do no wrong.
I'm telling you now we are a club in crisis & changes need to be made now.
As much as I live & breathe our club, this situation right now is a total embarrassment.
George Edward's, Clarke Osborne please do the right thing & take action, this sorry bunch will only take us down again.

Unfortunately we are a club in crisis, going absolutely nowhere this season.
At best 2 very poor sides battle out a 1-1 draw or as is more tha likely to happen 2-1 to the shots.
We are very nervous at the back & never look in command & up front , ha that's a joke.

Who cares if Holman WAS retired, semi retired, claiming disability or disillusioned with football ,.
If he can do a job for us by sticking the ball in the net on a regular basis then what's not to like ?
Weve been down the road of bringing in still wet behind the ears U23 forwards who tbh can't cut it in mens football & couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo !
Holman has experience, looks as if he may want to give it another go at professional football, and if GJ thinks he's up to it then I'm all for it, he's 31 not 51 & may just be what we're after, you can't beat experience & if it doesn't work out then so be it, forwards ( especially good ones ) at any level are hard to find.
At the end of the day we are Torquay United, we just dont have the money as the likes of the Wrexhams Stockports it Notts Counties of this division but neither did Barrow or Sutton in the last 2 years.
Let's just see where this season takes us, it's going to be bloody hard to replicate last season & no doubt if we get an indifferent start th6s knives will be out, dont forget we hammered Hartlepool at their place last season & look where they ended up !
