Invite to Season Ticket Holders and Sponsors 31/7/18

Richinns wrote: 31 Jul 2018, 12:13 Excellent quiet - I was hoping someone who posts on here was doing so. Can you provide some feedback much like your excellent match reports?

Of course the big questions need to be asked about the new stadium and the future of Plainmoor but if you get chance can you ask Mr Owers why we have not signed a physical centre forward and if he truly believes the strike force retained from last seasons relegation (Romain and Healey aside as well!) are actually good enough to score enough goals to get us promoted this!?
Will try and provide some feedback :)

BBC Pull Commentary of Torquay Games

Richinns wrote: 31 Jul 2018, 12:17 In fairness they have reacted well here. Hopefully all works as planned but you have to have some understanding if technical issues do arise with such a short time frame provided to set this all up.

Chelmsford away...a few tips

United62 wrote: 30 Jul 2018, 14:19 Thanks Gulag! .... just to add for those who are travelling on Saturday, if you purchase your ticket in advance (as Gulag states, no segregation so it's 'stand where you like') you can save £2 per ticket and if I've read it right, under-12s go free. The £2 you save could go towards purchasing a pair of binoculars (top grade ones) so that you can actually see what's going on past the running track.

Funny that neither the TUFC Official site or the Dorchester one made any mention of this - obviously missed by them. That’s quite a few injury doubts for next Saturday then .... Bass, Sokolik, Gowling, Nabi and Cameron.
Funny how Devon Live don't mention Essuman for Sokolik either... maybe he got a knock rather than a full blown injury. I can assure you though he definitely did not play the second half.

I agree, I don't know if Nabi and Cameron were that bad, both were walking fine, lets hope that we don't end up starting the season with a depleted squad through injury.

Gowling - Probably wants to just get paid and keep the bench warm.

The other guys - keep our fingers crossed that injuries are not serious.

CP Gull wrote: 29 Jul 2018, 11:22 Well I guess I might not get an answer to this now BUT “quiet gull” its me again .....

You know, the poster that pointed out that you gave Sokolik a poor rating in one game ... that he never actually played in?

Well, I’m back, and I see your opinion of Sokolik hasn’t improved

Just one thing though, I’ve seen nothing anywhere else to suggest that Sokolik “went off injured” as you suggest .... are you sure he did? Clearly that would not be good news given his recent history of injury problems ... but reports elsewhere seem to suggest he played the WHOLE game?
Hi,

thank you for responding to my post. I was a huge fan of Sokolik until his performance at Solihull last season.... then I think he went injured shortly after.

He is struggling, not sure with what.... He was subbed at half time for Esuman. The only half time sub made from what I remember. Then we saw him hobble up and down the stands and it did not look good.

He definitely did not play the whole game - was sat several seats away from us in the stand in the second half.

Cheers,

Obviously, like, so obviously that you could literally bring an alien to Earth from the planet Zarg and show him a post like that and he would understand that the ratings were 'merely your opinion' obvious.

Aside from that, thanks. Nice to see that a lot of our players were poor to average and we still managed to win a match and create the chances to make an observer think we should have won more comfortably still.

Winnin' the league, lads.

Matt.
Valuable response, note to the forum... and the forum mods, I will stop posting because of this twit.

Dorchester Vs Torquay 28.7.2018 PSF

Here goes:

We played 4-4-2 throughout, obviously to fit the trialists into the team and to give the fringe players a run.

Ratings are my own opinion only:

GK - MacDonald - 8/10 - Made one really good save, saved the routine balls and claimed a few corners and set plays. Kicking was a little better and hoping he will see the unfortunate injury to Bass as a great opportunity. A good game.

Def - Wynter - 6/10 - Average really, doesnt seem to have much pace, more misplaced passes than completed passes.

Def - Davis - 7/10 - Good speed and footwork as we have come to see, shame his distribution is STILL poor.

Def - Sokolik - 4/10 - Not sure what has happened, doesnt look interested, did not mutter a word the whole first half and then went off injured.

Def - Niate - 7/10 - Makes a few clumsy challenges but then makes up for them with his pace and strength, I think will be very important at heart of defense.

Mid - Banton - 5/10 - Is he fit? Or just off the pace? Enough said.

Mid - Leitch 7/10 - Worth signing, made some good passes, is spritely and gets around, could add a bit of an engine/gas to the midfield, small guy.

Mid - Tanner 5/10 - Was fairly invisible compared to Leitch.

Mid - Bawling - 7/10 - Did not do anything amazing but his passing at times was superb and knows how to set up opportunites, shame no team mates scored any of them!

For - Roberts - 7/10 - I think he has done enough to earn a contract, prefer him to Reid, seems to have a bit more of a football mind, not as fast, terrier style may be useful - Good penalty.

For - Pittman - 3/10 - He gets one mark more than Keating (2/10) for managing to score a tap in. Just so low in confidence and needs more pitch time which he is unlikely to get.

After 60 minutes a number of changes were made, nothing overly exciting. Still 4-4-2 and bloody hell how did Keating miss, it was harder to miss than score. He was maybe 2 yards out, open goal and shinned or scuffed the ball. He then also missed the rebound. The kid is trying to hard. We have seen in the past he can score.

Of the goals, Roberts - deserved his, penalty awarded for a clumsy foul.
Pittman - tap in.

- Should have won by 4 or 5.

Maybe one of the trialists will be signed and perhaps a loan player or two?

Noted that Cameron and Nabi sat in the stands with Gowling.

Saw Gary Hill (ex Woking and Dagenham manager) - He is currently not in management but looked like he was scouting, perhaps for a club up that part of country.... he made lots of notes! Waste of time really (sorry Gary), but anyway, best to keep the opposition guessing! Ha

I am looking forward to next Saturday, still a player or two light... but atmosphere on the bench and between players seems good.

Time will tell...

Oh, and Ref was good!

You've either been here a week, or ten years. Others will be along shortly to explain how I know this and why I'm chucking as a result.

Anyway, enough of this. There's a Series 1 episode of The Simpsons on and I've got work to pretend to do.

Matt88 wrote: 26 Jul 2018, 11:20 Seems odd that we'd end with such a low-level opponent. We usually start with the pub teams then move onto the grown-ups. Still, I suppose if we're to spend a whole season turning out against teams of **** estate agents and van drivers, we might as well warm up against the same.

I've rather enjoyed your reports, Quiet, keep 'em comin'.

Matt.
Agreed... odd PSF fixture card, if you think Nabi and Hall are unfit then gosh you should have seen them at Poole Town. Looked as if each had a steel cart in tow... if anything these games should help a bit with fitness.

Thanks Matt... My sentence structure, word selection, adjectives and grammar are devoid at times! - but if you can get past that then hopefully what I write is entertaining at some level.

Dorchester Vs Torquay 28.7.2018 PSF

Time to get back to the football, at least try to.

Dorchester Vs Torquay - Final Pre-season friendly.

A few bits about Dorchester Town F.C:

- Made 5 signings so far for the 2018/19 season, most notably a 19 year old CB from Plymouth.
- Dorchester have had a mixed pre-season, drawing with a Plymouth youth/reserve team, beating Saltash and most recently losing 2-0 to Yeovil.
- Last season they finished 19th in the Southern Premier League (one tier down from NLS)

I will try and provide a run down after I watch the game on Saturday. I am hoping for a much more solid performance from what would likely be the 11 players that will line up against Chelmsford in our first league game.

Safe trip to anyone going on Saturday.
