Re: Ex-Gull watch

"Billy Bodin has signed a new contract to keep him at Preston North End until the summer of 2021. The 27-year-old attacker, who was out of contract at the end of this season, has spent almost two years at Deepdale after moving from Bristol Rovers for an undisclosed fee in January 2018." :keepie:

Torquay v Barrow 26th October

20 minutes + highlights on the Barrow game and I thought the Gulls looked very good indeed. Highlights can be misleading but the Gulls seem to be playing better and better. Armani Little's injury is a blow - he looked 'on fire'. Quite brilliant. Good luck to him.

Goalkeepers - McDonald's moment of glory was a definite mistake and Covolan made a similar blunder Saturday - that said Barrow did very well to score from it. I'd guess the Jury is out but maybe McDonald will be back for the FA Cup game.

Torquay v Barrow 26th October

Grockle, someone posted earlier that Rooney shouted, "you tw*t" at the Ref. That'd be enough LOL

(( Whoops - update - just seen that Barrow's appeal WAS successful . . .

Re: Saikou's coming home!!

Interesting comments from Lee Johnson - Janneh will be 'with' TUFC until Jan 1st, at least, but . . . "it is important to be able to recall Janneh, who has a special status as a 'club-developed player' - one of which must be fielded in every senior Championship matchday squad."

And "That switch will then be reviewed in January with a possible league loan examined, depending on how things are proceeding for all parties" - I'd guess if TUFC are still going well Jan 1st Janneh likely to stay, (unless he's been recalled).

Thinking of the budget, GJ must surely be looking to send a few out on loan soon ?

Re: Torquay Vs Boreham wood Fa Cup 4th qualifying round19.10

'Forever' posts- "The fact remains MacDonald had no right, no business even going for that ball, it was the defenders job to deal with that, so once again we've seen MacDonald make a mistake regardless of whether it was penalty or not". Fair enough.

I see some Premier League games and the top Goalies plying their trade - even those Guys make SO many mistakes. Henderson ? IMO since the introduction of the lighter footballs many decades ago, you just don't see a Goalie give consistent faultless displays - these balls travel much faster and swerve markedly. Ron Springett, Gordon Banks, Peter Downsborough =D and Peter Shilton couldn't look as good these days.

An EPL Goalie this weekend, attacker about 4 metres out on the left, angle maybe 15 degrees, the Goalie has narrowed the angle but is on his knees and the shot goes in over his low head and hands :aww: Effing stand up  No need to spread at 15 degree angle :clown:

Covolan took criticism for the 30 yarder at Notts County but I thought it was a really stunning strike that swerved away from him. Has GJ dropped him for that or is GJ just giving McDonald an FA Cup go ? Now McDonald is criticised and I accept 'Forever's' view on it. But if McDonald hadn't gone out for it and they'd scored somehow, maybe he'd have been criticised for NOT going out, by others.

Goalies just can't win. Every other Player gets away with his 'mistakes'. That said, this common 'on your knees' stuff is bad coaching.

Good Luck to McDonald and Covolan :scarf: COYY.

Torquay Vs Boreham wood Fa Cup 4th qualifying round19.10

IMO the game should not be abandoned at Stage 3 unless safety has become a real issue - that would be surprising. Abandonment is too drastic and can be manipulated by losing fans or even fans posing as supporting the other side. Both Clubs may be blameless so it's hard to award the game to either side and worse to replay it.

Far better IMO to clear out the offending section of the Crowd and continue the game later. Clubs that cannot restrain their supporters should be made to play the next home games with only away Supporters present.

Saikou's coming home!!

To take a newly recovered Saikou back on loan only unti Jan 1st doesn't make the best sense (by the time he's match fit he'll be off again) and I'd guess that GJ will press for 3 months or even for the remainder of the season. Saikou too may prefer to come back to a Club he knows and is known to and lets hope the move will be for longer. He'd be assured of a game at TUFC and will know his way around. Bring it on GJ !

Torquay United scrap plans for new stadium

The Club's progress is just fantastic atm under Clarke Osborne and thanks to him, BUT with 2,500 attendances, the books ain't gonna balance - so someone has to pick up the tab. In the event of a return to League 2, even if the Gulls were doing well, an average of 3000 seems a great deal to hope for. I just don't get why the 'ambition' is for a Stadium that holds 10,000 and for me, it's hard to see Plainmoor being sold for a King's ransom ?

Plainmoor is perfect for TUFC right now IMO. On all 4 sides the Stadium is great.

The solution - increase Admission prices by 50% or more with concessions for Oldies (like me) and Families. That's the reality. How much is it to go into Legoland or Alton Park ? Even then, we'd have to hope to receive a juicy transfer fee or two and get Man Utd in the Cup every year. That's the reality.

Thanks Mr Osborne :scarf:

Ex-Gull watch

That's Moore's first goal since MAY apparently but well done him and it's great to see :keepie:

". . . . . . . the might of Kieffer Moore, the giant Wales striker who has emerged from nowhere to suddenly become a unique threat for his national side.

At 27, the Wigan forward has had to wait for his chance in the international game. When he was trundling around the lower leagues, he would never have thought it would come. Yet here he was, leading the Welsh line on his second international appearance, flanked by Real Madrid and Manchester United forwards, and scoring the opening goal. If Juraj Kucka had not struck a fine equaliser for the hosts, it could have been an even sweeter night for him and his manager.

This first international goal capped a quite remarkable rise for Moore, who had worked his way up through the amateur ranks — via a part-time job as a lifeguard and an appearance for England’s C team — before making his Wales debut in a friendly last month. His header here was his first goal in any competition since he scored for Barnsley against Bristol Rovers in League One in May. “He occupies the two centre-halves and he gives us a different option,” said Giggs.

Torquay VS Eastleigh 7:45 24.9

Sorry to intrude but you Guys and Gals need to stay behind the team and more so than anyone else, Jamie Reid, after the gross abuse he suffered last year. I wonder if the Players read your stuff ? Stay behind them !

Last season at this time - had we made mid-table ? I don't think so. Give GJ and the Squad a chance to make it gel and take it from there. Maybe we won't go up this season but do better next. It's amazing to read you taking lumps out here and there - give it time.

My own team Nakhon Ratchasima are fighting to stay clear of relegation from the Thai Premier despite being in the top 3 for attendances and having a record 37,000 crowd once ! Come on Torquay !!

Ex-Gull watch

Billy Kee :-

"Billy would like to thank everyone for their ongoing messages of support," Stanley said in a statement. "Over the summer he has deteriorated and has been unable to return to play football for the Reds this season. "He is currently under specialist treatment and the club is doing what it can to support Billy, who has been an integral part of the side both on and off the pitch for a number of years."

Woking v Torquay United 3/9/19

The Gulls are going to have to play out of their skins to get anything at Woking but maybe they can do it. A run of 6 wins in a row - Woking are ready for the chop ! A great one to win so fingers crossed for you Guys and Gals.

From Woking FC :-

''Dowse will be forced into at least one change for the first time in four games. Kane Ferdinand is suspended after picking up five yellow cards and he’ll likely be replaced in midfield by either Godfrey Poku or new signing Jake Gray, who’s still awaiting his debut as he works on his fitness with coach Christian Jolley. There could be a further enforced absence in the shape of Ben Gerring, arguably the Cards’ standout performer so far this season, who was forced off with an injury during the first-half of Woking’s win over Barrow on Saturday. ''

I see Golgo's favourite Player is Armani Little who plays for ?
