Away Kit?

MellowYellow wrote: 20 May 2024, 21:02 The new away kit does present a new look at an old question: what is the relationship between beauty and monstrosity?
Yes, excellent philosophical point. It's a tale as old as time.

I think Gabrielle-Suzanne de Villeneuve did an excellent job in her novel, La Belle et la Bête, of summarising the contrast of the two, whilst highlighting their very commonalities in an exquisite juxtaposition.

We shall have to see how it looks when the players run out at 255pm....

Away Kit?

Number 2 seems the be the front runner based on the chat here. It's my preferred option for sure.

One concern with these pastel coloured and odd designs is how well can the players see each other on the pitch, notably in poor visibility. Bolder colours and designs are easier to pick out from a playing perspective.

:goodpost: I'm cock-a-hoop with the news over the last ten days. Can't wait for the season to begin.....

I would have Ryan bowman back. Good, experienced player.

Club Badge

The Great Muta! wrote: 14 May 2024, 10:42 The current club crest isn't good in my eyes, it looks just like the Motorola phone symbol, what exactly is it?, the Dave Webb era was bad, mainly because the club were skint and lower league football at that time wasn't good, but I still really liked the palm tree badge, I'm not saying I enjoyed the Dave Webb era, but I do think some of players we had at that time were better than fans realise.
I get the confusion with Motorola. But we came first.....

Our logo is obviously a stylised seagull in flight made up of a pair of overlapping chevron-like shapes.

Motorola is an M, like the golden arches of Macdonald's. I think they're different enough.

Any change of logo/rebrand will cost money and has the potential to piss people off.

Better to stick than twist imho

Club Badge

NotStickingItIn wrote: 13 May 2024, 19:14 May I suggest in these times of a complete reset that we change the double upside down victory badge (or whatever one wishes to call it), it really hasn't served us well.
Perhaps we could turn it the other way up or perhaps we could look at the previous club emblem for inspiration.
Either way it would be an income generation for new sales.
We've had the "gull in flight" logo for nearly fifty years now, so it's served us in good times and in bad. I quite like the 70s vibe of it. Don't know if a new logo would necessarily bring in new sales. You'll always get people objecting to a change

TommyGunn wrote: 11 May 2024, 16:07 Did anyone listen to Radio Devon who interviewed Michael Westcott at 2pm today? My take

Debts owed a six figure sum.

Sitting with the TUST Monday to allow supporters to acquire a share of the club.

Neil Warnock on the board as the football advisor.

National league believe Torquay will have the highest playing budget in the national league south.

Not decided on full or part time as yet.

Close to appointing a new manager possibly by tuesday.

Very encouraging and to me he appears to be a sound man :scarf:
Tremendous news! Let's get the manager in place and get the preparations in place for next season. :scarf:

Bryn Consortium Take-Over

culmstockgull wrote: 11 May 2024, 10:06 Read the interview with michael westcott several times on devon live, he indicates their are six members of the consortium but only names five, perhaps warnock if the the sixth, too old for a day to day managers role, agreed, but as an upaid director of football what he could bring to the table would be huge, especially offering advice and knowledge to a young upcoming manager, his contact list would be huge.
Hopefully bar the small print the Bryn group has done the hard part and saved our club, now its down to us as fans to get behind them.

This is all very good news. After a season of disappointment, it feels like it could be a new dawn. Let's hope it materialises with some substantive summer activity.

He did well at Hull. It won't take him long to get another championship managerial role I reckon
