Can We Make the Play Offs?

Teigngull wrote: 06 Jan 2022, 06:58 At the risk of being shot down in flames by the usual suspects.
Losing Armstrong & Sparkes is a massive hit in quality that will unlikely be replicated by what will be available to us, Perrit not so much.
Horses for courses in this league will get you results, not namby pamby U23 show ponies, players who, as said by GJ, need to be Torquified & so far I haven't seen much of that this season, it's getting there but for this season I'm afraid we'll all gave to hang in to the derby wins as our high point moments.
We aint going up & we ain't going down, I don't think trying to scrape into & maybe fluking the playoffs will do us any favours in the long run, they say you should never look a gift horse in the mouth but as a club we need to be ready to compete in the EFL ( if we get there ) and right now we're not ready..
Let's use the rest of this season to recruit PROPERLY for a change, 1 or 2 rough diamonds a seasoned old pro who can play more than at a 1 in 5 off ratio , the structures there for a successful competitive football club let's realise our potential .
Very sensible words indeed. Couldn't agree more. We will I am sure be mid table and should be looking to build a solid team for next season. Not sure how straight forward that will be, and much depends on availability of Wright, Moxey, Little, et al in 2022/23. Above all though, need GJ to keep on keeping on. It took him couple years to assemble the team which were denied at Ashton Gate.

This term though we have been well entertained against Yeovil and few other games along the way and hope for continued positive signs.

Goodbye Sinclair !!

Harry67 wrote: 05 Jan 2022, 22:05 With sinclair leaving does this open up a space for another forward.ive noticed since tisdale has joined stevenage there is a certain striker who has hardly had a kick.track record of scoring in this league and knows torquay united pretty well....just saying lol
In ordinary times and from Stevenage perspective, why not? But in the omicron era teams need to keep a bigger squad. Only if the player in question was clearly not being considered in a squad of 20-24 might he be let out on loan.

Bizarre isn’t it?
No tickets available on the day, but come and get your tickets on the day 🤔

Can hardly see them putting on extra staff and there’s always going be problems with peoples proof of purchase et cetera, ijust asking for trouble here I feel.

Add to that the somewhat ambiguous approach to COVID. It says please have your NHS app ready...... Doesn't state that it's mandatory though...... All adds to the confusion at turnstiles

Really hoping I’ve got this wrong somehow.

[OS] Club Statement

Most stewards aren't trained or paid enough to start apprehending people. Most are just part time bodies in hi Vis jackets earning pocket money. The lead steward at the game might be an ex copper, and work full time, but don't expect them the be "up for it".

Torquay United v Dover Athletic Sat 13 Nov KO 3pm

davethegull2 wrote: 16 Nov 2021, 09:15 Having watched the "highlights", AL was clearly peeved by the reaction of the fans and reacted. His 2 goal performance stuffed some humble pie back down the throats of his critics. He has to rise above this sort of thing and use the energy as motivation to perform even better. Imagine the abuse he would get at somewhere like Leeds for not being 100%, 100% of the time. He has to learn to handle the heat and turn it to his advantage, like Jamie Reid did. He also needs to remember that the vast majority of the fans are completely on his side and want him to shine. Yes, some behave like terrace tw@ts, but that's football. If you can't handle the knockers (Benny Hill moment) he requires learning too, fast.
Spot on, Dave. Hope he does just that.

Jamie Reid was from Torquay though and so maybe had more patience with the process, and fewer options to move onwards. AL is not from South West, may feel unwanted and have offers from elsewhere.

Of course Little felt it was aimed at him because it quite clearly was and it’s the reaction of a pathetic bunch of so called supporters
Agree with you there DB57. I was there and it was absolutely directed at AL. MOTM is a daft, arbitrary award anyway with very little benefit and has the potential, much like in this case, to be divisive.

MellowYellow wrote: 13 Nov 2021, 21:08 Little: for so called fans to berate a TU player with boo's for MOTM was shameful. Then the stench of the same said fans cheering his winning goal was nauseating to say the least.
Agree 100% there. Little played well yesterday, better than most though the team weren't great throughout the whole lineup. Little even improved on some of set pieces.
