29 May 2021. Who will be Top of the National League?

Uptongull wrote: 12 May 2021, 08:13 Sutton haven't won at Maidenhead since 2013. And Sutton have only beaten Maidenhead once in their last 10 meetings, according to Flashscore. Maidenhead winning seven and two draws. I'm looking for any slight bit of hope....
Bit concerned about the Maidenhead keeper though - wasn't he subbed off injured yesterday and they only had an outfield player available to get well gloved up.

Can we loan them Shaun MacDonald for the weekend?

29 May 2021. Who will be Top of the National League?

desperado wrote: 12 May 2021, 08:17 At least with only a one goal margin win last night, goal difference could still play a part although Sutton are ahead by 3 and scored 2 more goals. Just hope Maidenhead have a goalkeeper on Saturday after last night.
If we're looking at GD our home game against Barnet is our best chance to catch up on that front. Barnet have shipped a LOT of goals this season and we would need to hit the target early on to steady the nerves and then start racking up goals.

(H) V Barnet - tickets?

Kingsgull83 wrote: 08 May 2021, 20:31 Not the Barnet game, that’s Stockport
22 May is also scheduled to be Sutton v Hartlepool which looks a juicier top end of table clash and better option for TV.

I think BT would only take on the Torquay Barnet game if it was clear that a win would give us the title.

Bromley

happytorq wrote: 06 May 2021, 13:50 Is the plan in the UK to allow fans in for the last game of the season? I know we're playing away, but I wonder how difficult it'd be to set it up to put the Alty stream on the big screen at Plainmoor. Let some people in, charge them a token fee - call it, I dunno, a fiver - and have everybody watch it collectively.
you could even offer to bung Altrincham a couple of quid from each 'ticket' so they don't feel hard done by.
Count me in!

Bromley

The Kents always used to have BT Sport. Dunno how they're set up for viewing in the COVID world.

Shame the club or Boots & Laces can't equip themselves for outdoor drinking / viewing somehow.

One has to think there'll be plenty of takers for any pub showing the game.

Torquay United Favourites to Win The National League

Before Notts Co v Sutton last night, Oddschecker had Sutton at evens and Torquay at 2/1, Stockport 9/1.
So the bookies will be wrong every time the favourite changes.

What's important to understand is that with so few games left the odds can change wildly. Hartlepool were 50/1 a couple of days ago and 9/1 last week.

I too like to follow the market Portugull, and take that as a generally better indicator than pundits and forum dwellers alike - but we've all been following Torquay long enough to know that this isn't going to be a shoo-in for TUFC over next 4 games. The boys are gonna have to work for every point, which they've been doing very well over the last 9 games.....

(H) V Barnet - tickets?

I'll get hanged for saying this, but why not play it at Home Park in front of 8,000+ fans in that case?

Really, the instagram video from an hour ago looked great;

Torquay United v Woking - Friday 2nd April @ 3:00pm

Anyone know if Woking have furloughed any players and are fielding a team of young'uns? Their manager said they would if they lost in the Trophy last week, which they duly did. But I've not seen any formal notice of furloughs.

Looking forward to seeing a teamsheet of lambs to the slaughter.
