FACR1 Replay - Derby County Torquay Utd Mon 14/11/22

Have to say disappointed with Derby only selling around 6k tonight..thought they were a ‘big’ club? Hopefully we knock them out tonight as they’re clearly not that bothered about either a) Their club or B) The FA Cup.

Wish we’d drawn a bigger club at that level now

Gary Johnson, stick or twist?

I think like many it depends on October with some winnable fixtures. If we haven’t shown progress & points by then then I think it’s over for GJ, which is sad as he’s done great things for this club but all good things come to an end, & it looks like recruitment has been awful & tactics clearly aren’t working.

If we go to Conf South again I don’t see us easily getting back like last time , so it’s imperative we stay up- I think the board will give him October to turn it around

Torquay United v Solihull Moors FC Tues 13th Sept 19.45pm

Like everyone else is I’m disappointed, from the very first game against Oldham it looked like this team wasn’t going to be pushing play offs, however I didn’t think it’d be relegation worrying but here we are.

Recruitment absolutely has to be addressed as that’s 2 seasons in a row now where it’s not good enough, part of the blame is with Gary & his brother of course.

Overall though for everything he’s done for us & the fact I don’t think there’s anybody better out there, we should stick with Gary. If it comes to Xmas & the tactics still aren’t working then I’d reassess then as maybe just a fresh face with new ideas could be needed.

Our New Players for Season 2022/23

I agree that unfortunately recruitment (again) hasn’t been good enough , which is a responsibility of a manager.

However I still fully support Gary, and for what he’s done for us he deserves time to turn it around. If we’re still In a relegation fight come Xmas then maybe things can be reevaluated but honestly who are we going to get who’s better? Maybe they might just need a new face by then if we’re still doing poorly.

Such a shame recruitment hasn’t been up to par, let’s just hope we can stay up & recruit better next season.

Mid table at best this season. Let’s hope we don’t lose to Aldershot otherwise we could get sucked into a relegation battle

We’re 8 points off relegation currently. If we get 1 point in the next 2 games that’ll probably be down to 3/4. That to me is way too close for comfort.

Sorry if that’s ‘wet’ for you but now is the time for us to kick on if we have serious aspirations of a top 7 finish

Yep if we get 4 points out of the next 6 we’re back on track. 2-3 suggests midtable season. 0-1 & perhaps start to worry about exiting the league the wrong way..

Good luck to the boys today, having Armstrong back will help us immensely i believe.

January Changes.

I would say it’s harsh to say we’re a ‘small fish in a big pond’ I’d say we are amongst similar size as many of the good ex league clubs in the league. Wrexham, Stockport, Notts, Chesterfield, Grimsby, Southend. National Leagye is basically on a par with League 2 in my eyes, but I firmly believe we’re in the top 7 of clubs in this league.

We have an amazing away support, good home support when doing well (like most clubs) Plainmoor can be rocking at times and in a beautiful part of the country which hopefully could be an interesting choice for any players up for a move.

The reality is we had a massive disappointment last season after an amazing campaign, this one was always going be hard to replicate. It’s all about putting together another decent squad for probably next season, under one of the best managers in the league.

Hopefully a good performance & result today. If we can be top 10 by February there’s a chance of play offs which should always be our aim at least.

Hoping the initiative today will bring in some more fans for the long term

Bromley v Torquay 9th Oct

It’s obviously not as successful season as last year, but the management team fully deserve the year to mould a new team together which hopefully ends with a promising end to the season with which to kick on next year. It’s unbelievably hard to get out of this league so it’s best to just enjoy where we are and try to just improve for next season

What a great game. Outplayed them in every department, how much of that was us being good & them poor we’ll see as the season progresses.

Regarding attendance I’m sure that it was a mixture if the awful weather & the no cash on gate policy- really hope they change that as I’m sure it’s costing us a lot of potential extra attendance & doesn’t really make sense when getting food is cash only..Hope that policy gets binned ASAP

Yeh I’m zoning out of this season, the cruel end to last season when we didn’t deserve it was too much to rectify it seems.

Hope for mid table & move on

Expectations

Saying we ‘blew it’ is a bit strong, i firmly believe it was just the awful injury list we had stopped us winning the league & then we were just unlucky in the final.

Looks like our signings aren’t too bad so hopefully if we have a much injury free season & good loans we can do at offs or more again
