That was good, we bring in a forward and an attacking midfielder, and then go and lose!

He certainly is a big looking lad, but looks more like a manager at Tesco's than a football player!portugull wrote: 23 Jan 2025, 17:00 A big strong lad formally at Harrogate Town.
Lacks experience but could be a right handful for defenders at NSL level. Lets hope so.
Still, I was wrong once before.

Only eight, I thought the way we gift the lower teams points it would be more than that.portugull wrote: 19 Jan 2025, 18:24 No. We have dropped 8 points. 4 against St Albans both draws.
2 away to Weymouth and 2 home to Aveley. So 6 games offered 18 points to date but we only got 10 points.

It would be interesting to see how many points we have actually lost against teams in the bottom four this season, certainly in double figures I would imagine.

As we have all seen no doubt, in the fourth round of the FA Cup Plymouth are playing Liverpool (top) and Exeter are playing Notts Forest (third). With each of them recieving in excess of half a million I would imagine, so a competition worth entering.
Sadly people are programmed to believe nonsense: the Pyramids were built by the Egyptians, and carved blocks of stone have been found estimated to weigh 1400 tons (I believe the largest machine we have can only lift about 40 tons) which the Romans are alleged to have carved!
Sadly, if the FA (or whoever runs the shambles of the non-league) were to put a Turd on a piece of Plywood and say this is now the FA Trophy, teams would still vie for it!
The sooner TUFC realise this, the sooner we can get away from the shambles.

Torquay United v Welling
culmstockgull wrote: 11 Jan 2025, 19:12 When you win three one its hard to be negative, first five minutes we were up for it, then and not for the first time we let welling back in, so many games we should have put the game to bed within the first 45 but we were lacking any forward incisive pass, plenty of endeavour but nothing productive. Best player first half by a country mile was Moxey, its a shame he came out for the second half because it was his lack of pace that was instrumental in their goal,Lovely to see at half time robin stubbs on the pitch celebrating sixty years from when we drew against the mighty spurs and my first game at plainmoor, Not sure what the half time team talk was but we never came out for the start of the second half and it was no surprise that welling got back into the game. However from about minute 70 it was just us and we were totally comfortable with the win.
I would imagine sixty years ago was the last time we actually had a good FA Cup run, so very apt that Robin Stubbs was on the pitch.

Brewers boy wrote: 10 Jan 2025, 10:46 Didn't want to put this on the Welling thread as it would clog it up for Louis and United 62 and the prediction league.
Here's hoping for a decent crowd again tomorrow. January is notoriously a difficult month for many as the credit card bills come in and also this week is a bit chilly. The tanking at Worthing won't have helped either.Other clubs fans will be feeling the pinch too, so away fans will also be down. So lets get behind the lads encourage a friend to go, buy an extra beer or coffee etc.
I'll be disappointed if we get below 2,000.
I would imagine the tanking at Worthing (thereby ending our continued participation in the Trophy games, at least for this season) will improve our attendance figures considerably.

Remember on Tuesday 11th February just over 5 weeks away we play Worthing away in the League. We do not want to give them the psychological boost of having beaten us today. Play to win as I am sure we will.COYY.
So you're under the impression that a game in the FA Trophy today, is going to affect a league game in over five weeks time are you?

For me the sole focus should be on the league which is already shaping up to be a three horse race between us, Boreham and Maidstone with a few outside runners. I know it is a money earner for the club but it may be fools gold if this cup run disrupts the momentum in our quest for promotion.
Sadly, all that will fall upon deaf ears!

FA Trophy Fourth Round draw.
Keithsson wrote: 24 Dec 2024, 13:02 Ah, the dismissive former league club arrogance towards 'lesser clubs', I'd figured the near death experience of administration would humble such notions. Never mind.
To some clubs it matters, but that's fine, if it's really of no interest to you, I guess you'll be sending your youth team up then
It's nothing to do with arrogance towards so called lesser clubs, what a load of nonsense!
I'd be happy if we used our Women's team in this competition, but no, we have to put our first team out virtually every time we play in this bloody competition! Which means more chance for injury and an extra mid-week game!
I mentioned that our neighbouring clubs fans look upon Torquay fans as not being the sharpest knives in the drawer, but I tend to look upon them as being related to Oliver the Humanzee!

It's the FA Trophy my friend, and it truly doesn't deserve this much attention!Keithsson wrote: 24 Dec 2024, 07:49 It's all gone quiet on the appeal front, and the FA won't do anything now over the festive period.
But equally quietly all the clubs involved have emmended their fixture lists to show the 'provisional' resolution.
Still feel it's harsh on Tonbridge, still feel we don't deserve it. So have a merry Christmas, it looks like we'll see you in the new year.

Torquay v Horsham FA Trophy Sat 7th Dec 3pm
Our quest for this trophy knows no bounds it would seem. In pursuing it though, our sights have been lowered dramatically.
Our neighbours have no doubt regarded us (TUFC) fans, as being somewhat ‘not the sharpest knives in the drawer!’ An accolade which we are unlikely to shed while we continue to strive to win this competition.
Plymouth will one day soon, advance to the Premier League, although they will have to get rid of Rooney first.
Exeter are comfortably in league one and believe it’s their level, with the odd tilt at the Championship.
We will never achieve the height of Plymouth, and even the height of Exeter seems only a remote possibility. As long as some people get an orgasm every time this competition is in front of us, blunt in the drawer we will remain!
