I certainly hope the new main stand will get built, it will make Plainmoor seem a lot more modern as we only have one good looking modern stand, the Family Stand. I would have thought that the new stand would look something like Macclesfield's newish stand which I think looks very good (pictured below). I presume it will have a sponsored name and won't just be called the Main stand / Grandstand. I still wish we could have something like Shrewsbury, Chesterfield or Burton though.

Re: Torquay United vs Crewe Alexandra
Good win, the Railwaymen have been sent chugging back to Crewe with no points but sounds as though we were running out of steam at the end.

Re: Torquay United vs Crewe Alexandra
Crewe will be difficult tomorrow but we have enough quality to see them off I think particularly as we should have beat them comfortably back in October but threw away a good lead. Interestingly I have never seen a set of fans which despise their own team as much as the Crewe fans. We went to see Crewe v Torquay last February and my uncle had managed to get free tickets for all 5 of us but we had to sit in the main home stand with the Crewe fans and they were abusing their team constantly throughout the match but not by shouting or swearing, all they did was complain that their team couldn't string 2 passes together and that they were generally awful. I've never seen or heard anything quite like it. Pretty funny too.

Re: Drummers at war
I think the drum played well adds something to any match. Before every match I go to a game which unfornately is not as oten as I'd like I am always hopeful that 'the guy with the drum' is there. Last one for me was away against Shrewsbury in October last year, had a great time even though we did draw. Wembley sounds fantastic and I wish I could of gone but the trains from Stoke on Trent on a Sunday are appauling.

Re: Some basic facts for you
This moron is just tarring all Exeter fans with the same brush, :S quite unfair to do that to your own fans, unless this is some sort of wind up which in my experience it could well be...

Re: Stockport vs Torquay Match Thread
Thanks for clarifying, probably were appealing for free kick but still seems odd.Pretty sure it's not a backpass if you chest it back to the keeper, but i'm not sure about the shin!!! As for appealing for a penalty this would be rather odd, as an indirect free kick would be awarded inside the penalty area for a backpass, which is probably what they were appealing for.

Re: Stockport vs Torquay Match Thread
No one else seems to have mentioned it on this thread but during the game on Saturday one of the Stockport defenders passes the ball back to the keeper with his shin, Benyon and several Torquay players appealed for a penalty as they thought this was a backpass which I thought it was too. The referee and the linesman waved away the protests and gestured towards their knees and shook their heads. I always thought that it was a backpass unless you headed it, am I wrong and if so when did the rule change?

Re: The Board. Really good thread, highly recommended.
I think what we all want at Torquay is for a Middle Eastern oil sheikh to take over and pump in loads of cash and then leave with the club in huge amounts of debt, might get a new ground though.

Re: Stockport vs Torquay Match Thread
Obviously Buckle wasn't at the same game I was at today, both teams were very poor and neither sets of fans ever got going.BBC interviews from Simpson and Buckle both said we played very well, looked dangerous and deserved to win and Buckle said the atmosphere was "electric"... How strange.

Re: Stockport vs Torquay Match Thread
The worst game Ive been to this season. Both teams were very poor and no real atmosphere, stupid mistake by Bevan for the goal. Yet again Torquay never tried to get forward, every time the ball was played wide it was played along the line across the defence instead of attacking down the flanks. Zebroski was anonymous on the left when Rose came on. We shouldnt be squandering points against the likes of Stockport.

Re: Stockport vs Torquay Match Thread
Went to the FA cup demolition of Stockport last year at Macclesfield, Stockport were absolutely awful. Hopefully we will give them a good thrashing, maybe Gritton will finally start scoring.

Oh great, I have read somewhere that if the weather is bad they do sometimes open up part of another stand for away fans

Re: When was your first Torquay game?
First game was Torquay v Rochdale 25th August 2003 when I was 11 which the Gulls lost 1 - 3, can't remember who scored but I got my first Torquay shirt in the shop after the game. We'd been going down to Torquay on holiday for years and I don't know why me and my dad decided to go to a game but from then on I was hooked and I get to go to a few away games living here in Stoke, will be going to Stockport this Saturday.
