Re: Seriously BR Fans - CAN WE MOVE ON!

Great post again and more or less answered in two recent posts I've made in response to Rovers fans.
Threads are being moved if they become too disharmonious.
A pm is on the way to Simonb and as long as he agrees to do as he's asked nobody needs to be banned.
I think personally that a PM will make him even more determined to annoy/ taunt (try to)/spam us. Even if you ban him he will know that he has got the reaction he has been longing for and will likely create another account then another and another etc.

Re: skybet next manager odds

As much as I like Chris Hargreaves I do not think that now would be the right time to appoint a complete rookie to the manager's post. He may already know the club but he has no experience at all and if we found ourselves rooted to the bottom of the table at Christmas and he was acked then it would put a significant dent in his reputation with us.

The person that has been mentioned on here but not whose name has not really been shouted aloud is Bruce Rioch, the man who bought Dennis Berkamp for Arsenal. I would sign him in a second, he has more experience than the rest of the candidates put together and has managed at virtually every level in different countries. Perhaps we would see some continental flair coming to Plainmoor if he was appointed......

I just know it will be Hargreaves though. :(

Re: Zebroski

I

am not saying you need bigger crowds to survive, but unless you have a rich benefactor like Wigan or Crawley you aint never going to progress that far in the long term.

If Bristol Rovers, like Bradford, Luton, Oxford, Swindon etc get a decent team with success, you can see them progressing up the ladder because they have bigger fan bases than the likes of yourselves, Accrington, Morecambe, Stevenage, D&G, Macclesfield, Barnet the list goes on.

Its not banter its just that I am stating the blinking obvious, and stating common sense.

you keep saying the same things over and over. Just leave the site.
I don't think that's fair, I have very much enjoyed BritishGas' posts over the last week or two. Unlike other Bristol Rovers fans who have come on here he seems to be able make well thought out points and adds to the discussion. He is more than welcome in my opinion.

Re: Ticket Fiasco

I didn't know whether to post this in the tickets thread or this one so apologies if placed incorrectly.

Well following Torquay United is never an easy business is it? I ordered four adult tickets for the match this Saturday on Sunday at 12:00 as soon as the lines opened, the tickets were for four seats in the £26 section.

I received my tickets today, good news I thought, I then opened by tickets and thought "Hang on, there doesn't seem to be four tickets in here". I then realised that there were only two tickets inside, one adult and one concession. The tickets were also for the wrong area of the stadium, they were the £40 seats not £26 as requested. The tickets also said on them "Torquay United v Shrewsbury Town" which was rather strange. It was clear that I had been sent someone else's tickets and that there was someone with the same problem as me somewhere in the country.

I phoned Plainmoor and explained the situation to them, they confirmed that there had been a mixup with the tickets and that someone else with the same surname as myself had been sent mytickets and vice versa, that person had already called Torquay to tell them this.

So after ten minutes on the phone they said that they would give me a ring back. One hour later and no phone call.....

I hope very much that the club can get the tickets to me before the match but just in case and I realise that this is a longshot, if there is a person on this site with the surname Roberts and has had the four adult tickets instead of the adult and concession, please PM me.

Is this really the way we expect a professional foorball club to operate?

Re: David Graham

David Graham has now joined Hucknall Town of the Evo - Stik Premier League after being released by Worksop earlier this year. Since joining he has made 3 appearences scoring one goal against Whitby Town on his debut. Wonder how many weeks he will stay at Hucknall for before he is released? Below is a link to his profile on the Hucknall website, not mcuh to look at though, he never stays long enough at a club to have a profile picture.

Re: Another reason why I hope we go up..

Personaly I would like to see Crawley in League 2 just so they could crash and burn and freefall down the leagues so in a few years they will be playing the Metropolitan Police in front of crowds of 150. There is however a rather interesting dilemma that they should face next season, namely that they will have to reval who is providing them with so much money. Crawley have yet to decalre who is funding them, their only answer is that it is a far eastern consortium who have taken a real interest in the football club. I think we all know that this is utter rubbish, the chairman of Crawley himself has said that he has never met the group in question. My powers of deduction suggest that there is something very dodgy going on behind the scenes at Crawley Town and the sooner it is brought into the open the better.

Well well seems my geography let me down there  , hat tip to you SG for pointing that out. On second thoughts I think I'll blame Google Maps, it's easier.

Re: I'm back!

Here are two links that you may find useful in your Southampton area adventure sort of thing.

http://www.footballgroundguide.com/

You could spend some time trawling through the twenty four clubs in League 2 and find some which are in the vicinity you are looking for, obviously you would discount clubs which you know are not in that sort of area, Port Vale, Shrewsbury and Stockport for instance. When you have a club that you think is near your location simply type it into Google Maps.

http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=southa ... 1bfa6adfac

Or you could save some time and just look at the second link I have provided you with, I am sorry to say that there are no League 2 clubs near Southampton or in Hampshire for that matter.

You can thank me later for providing you with this service.

Re: Ray Spear

As Nick says players can reject your advice, telling Nicky Wroe to stop shooting from distance didn't work so he got angry and left the room, that was the end of him. I just released Yeoman anyway on the count that he was rubbish, I regreted that decision later....

Some players like me though, Lee Trundle calls me "boss" whenever he walks in the room. What a nice guy.

My apologies to you Matt, I was referring to one of my games on Football Manager in that Ray Spear is an utter moron. I'm sure he's a nice guy in real life and will serve the club well. :)

Re: Ray Spear

If he's anything like he is on Football Manager then he's going to upset Alex Russell for not letting him tutor him, take my comment that he should stop shooting from distance as a personal insult and then have the gaul to demand a wage increase!

i hope Buckle knows what he has let himself in for.... :aww:

Re: League 2: Macclesfield Town vs Torquay United

I went to the debacle at Moss Rose last season and we can't possibly be much worse than we were then. We should be going there for a win and believe we'll score at some point all though the last Torquay game I went to which they won was against Port Vale way back in August so I'd love to see a "Yellow" victory as the OS seems so fond of mentioning.

I can't see Macclesfield being much of a threat if we play well but if we play like we did against Aldershot then I can see us gifting Macclesfield a goal or two. In spite of my nagging doubt however I am going to go for a 0 - 2 Torquay win with Robinson and Zebroski getting the goals.

I hate the term "Real football fan" :( . What does that mean? If you want quality football journalism then go to http://www.zonalmarking.net/ or listen to the Guardian football weekly podcast. Enough said. :-D
