Re: Fans review of the year

I don't see what's so wrong with drums at football matches, yeah sure you get some people who can't play them and the drum at Bolton is pointless because they just bang it when they have a shot but no one sings along to it. However I've been to matches when we've had a drum and it's fantastic, it makes a difference when you have someone as we do who can actually get a good beat going.

Irrespective of any 'potential' he has, Man Utd aren't stupid!

Fergie has spent millions on unknown players before, he bought Lee Sharpe from us in 1988 for £200,000 after only 16 games.

Apparently Crewe Alexandra's Powell signed for Manchester United for £4 million, I thought he would leave Gresty Road but I didn't think it would be to Old Trafford. Interesting move.

Re: 2012/13 season

True bixie, it's great when you go to a new ground and you see the floodlights towering over the surrounding landscape. Better than looking at a bland stadium in the middle of nowhere.

Apparently it's going to be part of a massive retail park scheme, as you say it will most likely will well out of town. They'll be sharing it with some Rugby team in York.

Re: 2012/13 season

I'm really looking forward to next season, hopefully we should add a few hundred onto our attendance figures what with Bristow's bench being opened and the possibility of a bit of cash to get some new players if O'Kane departs. All being well we could be looking at challenging for automatic promotion again.

If Crewe go up then I can only see myself making it to 5 games max. Although If I go to university that number will be reduced to 0 most likely. Pleased that York have made it back to the football league after 8 years away, looks like their days at Boothen Crescent are numbered however after the announcement of a new stadium which is supposedly going to be ready for the 2014/15 season, design is below if anyone's interested, doesn't exactly thrill me.

Crewe Alexandra are hardly in the North, Gresty Road is only 20 minutes from Port Vale.

Re: The Spotty Mob

You hit the nail on the head there forever with rgeards the stewards. At the Crewe game there were about 3 morons who ran onto the pitch yet the stewards who were on the touchline did nothing to stop them, they should have tackled them as soon as they got on the pitch, would have made the pitch invaders look like the attention seeking idiots that they are and would have taught them a lesson.

By the way, cracking atmosphere last night, you wouldn't think it was us that were losing from the way you guys were singing, you could really here the noise on the TV. Kudos.

Re: Torquay United v Cheltenham Town - 17.5.12

Good effort but just not enough in the end. I just hope we push on next season and don't lag behind in mid table as it's going to be tough next time round. The atmosphere from what I heard on Sky was incredible right to the end, fantastic as always however near the end there was a disruption when some in the commentators words "clowns" were on the field, please tell me these were not Torquay supporters?

Re: Cardiff City to rebrand themselves?

This reminds me of SV Austria Salzburg, now known as Red Bull Salzburg after a corporate takeover. Their badge was changed, their kit was changed, their stadium name was changed, everything about the club changed and it's identity was erased. In fact after the takeover Red Bull declared "this is a new club with no history." It's no wonder fans of the club were outraged and decided to form their own club.

It's disgusting when this sort of thing happens.

Re: In hindsight, thankyou Southend?

Personally I would have rather played Crewe. Possibly because Gresty Road is only 15 minutes drive away, well definetly because of that actually and because I thought we made them look very ordinary when we played them at Plainmoor a couple of weeks back, they didn't threaten the goal all that much and their goal was a result of some pretty sloppy defending and a ludicrous amount of time added on.

However I haven't seen us play Cheltenham this season and I know that we'll give it everything we've got, if that's not enough then so be it but as long as the boys do their very best on the pitch and play as well as I know they can do, I believe we have a real chance of getting to Wembley.

Re: how many games Torquay united have you watched

I try to get to as many games as I can and this season I've seen about 6 or 7 including my first visit to Plainmoor for the match against Crewe since a 3 - 2 win against Rushen & Diamonds back in 2007 but to say that I have no right to comment on any aspect of the team because I don't drive 4 1/2 hours down to Torquay every week is absurd. The people on here do a fantastic job of keeping me informed during matches, they're better than the BBC live text.

Take a look at Le Fondre, bided his time, waited for the right move, to the right club, he's in the Premier League now. We see dozens of players a year who chase the dream (and the money) and take the first offer they get, with stars in their eyes, dreaming of glory. Lo and behold, 12 months later, they're back where they started, of not below. Check out Branston, £3000/week, can't buy a game, hates life, wants to kill himself. All those who chased the money to Rovers. Stanners certain to be released, would have been a Torquay legend, Bevan, I have it on good authority, detests Rovers, Carayol at Lincoln, Benyon to Swindon, even Robbo at Preston. The only one who I can think has really made a go of it is Jamie Ward.

Matt.
The one player who always comes to my mind when I hear about a once brilliant talent who moved too far and too fast would be David Graham. If we'd had him in League 1 back in 2004/05 I reckon we would have stayed up, but he went to Wigan and and then began a game of snakes and ladders down the football pyramid. Now look where he is.
