Re: How hard you guys must be laughing at us!!!!

From Rovers Forum

Spoke to the same director straight after you.

He confirmed in strictest confidence that Buckle has only 4 games to go, until the Gillingham game.

The plan is then to ask Shaun North to take over until the 10th January after the Hereford away game. Hopefully, we will have good weather.

We are then able to employ STEVE TILSON, the ex-Southend and Lincoln manager. His gardening leave ends at this point so no compensation is needed.

If Tilson does not do well enough by mid-March they are planning to ask Byron Anthony to act as caretaker manager until the end of the season.

A spell of 12 games is the current plan but it could be one more or less.

He has contacted John Anderson, our ex-centre half, and he is going to act as his assistant manager.

If all goes to plan we are looking at employing a completely fresh management team for next season.

We will be looking at the league two play-offs and selecting a manager from one of those who make the play offs but do not get promoted.Happy days. All this deja-vu is killing my sense of humour.

Hahahah Martin Ling?

Just being provocative :)

Re: How hard you guys must be laughing at us!!!!

Hi Oasis

I have read some of the comments on your forum. No disrespect to Bristol from me although the attack on the Barnet coach is worrying, nit their fault.

Paul Buckle did a good job for us, there were many who didnt like him but in the end he ot us out of the conference and to the final of league one playoffs on ltd budget. Yes it was the maaner of the leaving that hurt us, and we felot that becuase the decision had been made BEFORE the playoff final that we didnt really give it our all, that hurt.

From PB's carreer point of virew the expetctations at Bristol are higher, and they should be, with the attendances and money available. AT Torquay the hard part of the job is to get a decent team togehter on little money, and that is hard, very hard. We only have to have a few injuries to key players and we could be in truoble.

I dont like to wish ill on anyone, and I guess if PB is sacked he will get a huge payout anyway, so form that point of view hes in a good position. What does a Bristol Manager earn do you reckon?

Ooops

From a Gashead
Where to begin.

I am very aware that being a Gashead usually involves nothing more than passion and blind optimism. But never in my life have I witnessed it in such an abundance as this season.

For those who still support Buckle, your optimism is commendable. But jesus christ, wake up and smell the coffee.

We are lumbered with a manager who is UTTERLY clueless. His post match press conference yesterday confirmed this when he said he doesn't know what is wrong or what to do.

LET ME HELP YOU MR BUCKLE. WE HAVE A SH*T DEFENCE. WE CONCEDE 2 GOALS A GAME AND THAT IS MAKING US DROP POINTS. YES THERE IS NO BUDGET TO BRING ANYONE IN - WHY? BECAUSE YOU SPUNKED IT UP AGAINST THE WALL ON PLAYERS LIKE RENDELL AND NORBURN WHO WERE/ARE NOT REQUIRED.

I find it hilarious that SteveK can call me a "w*nker" when he spent the first half of last season calling for Trollope's head. Yet he's allowed to do that. Why? Because of course, he is a far better supporter than all of us. If we dare suggest Buckle is not up to the task we are "not fans", should "stay away from the club" or, of course, are "w*nkers". Pathetic. I had little/no respect for you prior to your latest comment anyway, but now I have none for you and your holier than thou attitude and your shockingly hilarious contradictory nature.

For those who still (somehow) support Buckle, I ask you this - WHY? Other than the "because this is Bristol Rovers and I will support whoever is in charge" - where were you and your support when you were calling for Trollope's head? Or Penney's head. And yes Steve "I'm better than any other supporter" K I am looking at you.

Most of those defending Buckle to the hill (not ALL of you) but certainly a fair few of you were those of you who pleaded and begged for Trollope to get the sack. I'm not necessarily saying it wasn't time for him to go (as that argument has already been done to death) but it seems to me that you refuse to admit the grass might not have been greener on the other side and as such refuse to admit Buckle might not be a good manager either.

All I ask is you offer me something - some sort of hope that Buckle might be a manager with even a shed of managerial ability. Because I see NOTHING. Ian Atkins assembled a squad of talented players but he is now a SCOUT. He couldn't manage players. Given the amount of people Buckle has fallen out with, what on earth makes people think Paul Buckle is a manager? Ian Atkins and both Ray Graydon were more people persons than Paul Buckle - and Ray Graydon even threatened to take a man's house away!!!

We have been lumbered with somebody less than useless. SteveK said yesterday "Stanley and Campbell cannot play together again". I agree with you. But do you know what, I said that the last time they played together - did Buckle learn? Nope. Will he? No. WHY DID THEY PLAY TOGETHER? All we get is "please Mr Buckle, don't play them again?". Instead we should be saying "Oi!!! Buckle you clueless clown! Why on earth have you made the SAME mistake AGAIN".

Why did Norburn sign? That's possibly the worst signing we've ever made. Joins us for a month, doesn't get a game, yet extends his loan, but then gets hauled off before half-time on his first start and then couldn't get a start above Campbell who the manager publicly fell out with in the week.

I have had it. And SteveK or Blue Bright Side of Life or whatever your name is, don't bother telling me not to turn up on Saturday. I am a diehard Gashead and I love this club. If people like me walk away then there will be no club left to support.

And for the Buckle fans, I leave you with this - if ALL you have is "Buckle had success with Torquay" then I give you this - Trollope had success with us too. In fact, Trollope has achieved more than Buckle regardless of whether Trollope was good enough or not

Re: FA Cup 1st Round Draw..

Yes you are both right, Sills and Bayes.

Sills started off not too good and the fans were getting at him a bit, probably (and I dont kow this) he is one of the biggest wage packets. But has now started to score a few. In fact one of Towns best starts to the season actually. I hve intended to go and see them but havnt got around to it this year yet.

Rovers

Zebs not in squad today, if hes not injured he wont be happy.

And I missed the fact that Rendell has now gone to Rovers, when did that happen. And even he isnt in the 1st 11. Gee they must have some money to keep 2 players like this out of the 1st 11, bet both are on good wacks!

Re: League 2: Southend United vs Torquay United

I havnt got a clue why anyone can support Lings position.

We can all see with our own eyes this team has lost total confidence, THAT IS THE MANAGERS FAULT!

We still have most of the team from last year, yes you can argue that we did lose some of the quality, that is true, but the replacments are woefull.

The forwards we had under Buckle were part of our defensive strategy, Zebs did his fair share and was invaluable but Paul expected the whole team to defend as a unit when required. ling has no strategy and no concept of this.

He must go now, prolonging this is ridiculous, WHY? We have played 15 games, we are shite, no confidence, leaking goals, what more proof do you want?

austrianandygull wrote: In the game at Bradford which i said at the time it was one of the worst performances i have seen from a torquay side, we didn't get stuffed but we looked like relegation fodder even against a team who played 3/4 of the game with 10 men and who themselves are low on confidence . We didn't even have any shots of note! It was glaringly obvious that we just didn't have a clue what we were doing and had we been playing a team near the top of the league who had 10 men for 3/4 of the game we would have been looking at a 2 or 3 nil defeat and we had the extra man!! Performances and results have got worse since. Ling HAS been found out and confidence and ideas have now gone. The honeymoon period is well and truly over and although i recommend we support Ling and the players, if us the fans aren't seeing any efforts or improvements within the next month then we need a change. We must all remember that Ling wasn't even on the radar when we were interviewing candidates so his appointment was met with a certain amount of shock AND worries about his credentials. I think because of that we have been giving him the benefit of the doubt thus far but i went to Shrewsbury and Bradford and saw what unfolded in front of my eyes and it was inexcusable. We ship goals for fun and our strikers are s**t. If it weren't for Manses goals and Nico then we would be below Plymouth probably. Bodin is good and has scored a couple of individual efforts (due to a lack of quality around him he has to do things himself). Dear God we are just bloody awful at the moment and we going to get worse. We are in serious trouble.
Sorry disagree, the change must happen NOW, another month will leave us a mountain to climb.

Ling is not good enough, ow much proof of that do we need.
