Can we raise £400,000. Yes or No?

Hi guys.

Haven't posted on here for a (long) while, but was intrigued when I saw so many people seemingly up for putting the cash up.

Unfortunately Matt has uncovered one of the main problems at Torquay. So many talkers but when it comes down to it, there is no action.

Well done on setting this up Matt - it's a shame everyone has a copy of rent-an-excuse lying on the coffee table.

Re: Some perspective needed.

Been a while since I posted but had to say something here. I don't understand this attitude at all.

Why would anyone bother turning up if you couldn't go up or down?

The risk of going down is the only thing making me go to games at the moment to support the guys when they need it. A simple shout of "come on Kev" when he comes over to take a throw can, IMO, really help the psyche when away from home.

To go down would be a disaster for the club of course but as a fan I really enjoyed travelling to some of those grounds and playing different teams and pushing for promotion (not sure it would be so easy this time!) what I'm saying is, without promotion and relegation there's no ruddy point in turning up.

Re: League 2: Southend United vs Torquay United

Hello chaps. I'm going tomorrow (today). Would take a draw although secretly holding out hope for a 2-0 win with a surprise Nicho double- 2 freekicks. Not sure how much money I would make off that bet but it's surely huge. Anyway, If anyone fancies a pre-match bev or meal then let me know. :)

Re: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that he is as good as branno... at distribution!!! Defensively he fills me with as much confidence as scott bevan doing the limbo. I can't believe that he made the team of the week or that anyone chose him for their top 5. The Northampton fans were asking us aster the game the name of the guy who kept falling over. It was Saah.

Meet up for Northampton?

Hi all.
I am heading up to Northampton this week on my todd and would enjoy a pint with folks on here if you're about?

From memory 2 seasons ago there are not a great deal of decent pubs about the ground just a couple of american-themed bar restaurants.

Anyone got plans to head anywhere specific let me know.

Cheers.

Re: PSF: Torquay United vs Bristol City

Nice summary! My favorite sentence is: "A lot of our attacks started from Bobby playing the ball short to Oastler."
Not going to miss the Bevan-Buckle theory that to get every player standign on the left hand touch line whilst the keeper blasts it off the pitch!!!

Re: morris

Is this the same Ian Morris who was at Chesterfield on loan this year?

For me, Zedders had one of those games where nothing stuck. His match was summed up perfectly when he got a lucky break into the box and shinned it miles wide and further high into the stand from about 12 yards, not good.
Tomlin, however, was ok, one of our better players. Received it well and, although he struggled to beat a man, he did lay off sone decent little balls and he retained possession when others would have lost it.

No one had a good game, let's not pick on individuals. Overall, it's been a wonderful season and if we get more of the same next year, I'll be delighted.

Matt.
Each to there own I suppose! I'm not saying that Zebs was particularly good but he did work hard.

Have you recovered from the trauma of yesterday then Matt?

Re: Goodbye Tomlin

Billy Kee on the wing has been a bit of a problem for us. What I would give for a young, uninjured Wayne Carlisle!

Re: Goodbye Tomlin

That's rubbish. Zebroski was the engine room of the attack. If you seriously think that those two players were on a par something is wrong. Tomlin was lazy, had a poor touch and was not linking up well with other players. Zebroski was winning the ball in midfield and in attack and did not stop chasing the wole game. Unbelievable.

Re: Goodbye Tomlin

That is a fair point although I would say that Kee, over the season has been more valuable than Tomlin.

Re: League 2 Playoff Final: Stevenage vs Torquay United

At half time it was always going to go one of 2 ways. A comeback like at Bury away when Buckle puts the wind up them at half time and they com out all guns blazing and with a bit of luck and alot of hard work it came out well. The other alternative is what actually happened, we came out strong and attacked well for 15 minutes then Stevenage slowed the game down and broke up the play and our heads dropped, we lost momentum and the passing went down hill. A bit of bad luck on a couple of occations and some poor finisheing and with 20 minutes to go it was evident that the fight had gone from the players and we didn't look like scoring from then on.

It's a massive shame because with a bit of luck in those 15 minutes after half time we could have got a goal and Stevanage's second half tactics would have been ruined, we probably would have won the game. But this is football and it didn't happen on the day so we pick ourselves up and look forward to next season with slight excitment and alot of trepedation(?).
