Re: Rooney Decision!!.....

Thats not a bad list Stef, but some of those are players that played for Torquay on loan or in the twilight of their careers, So they dont really count.

A few of those in that list also represented the Gas, the likes of Roberts, Trollope, Micky Evans and Ryan Green.

If I was going the same route as you, I could include Alan Ball, Gerry Francis and Mark Walters for England.

We also had the Latvian captain and all time record appearance maker for an outfield player play for us at the peak of his career in Vitas Astavajevs, he captained Latvia in Euro 2004 when he was at The Gas.

If I was to name all the internationals that have played for us it will take far to much of my precious time.

It probably comes across like I am playing top trumps :~D I dont mean it to come across that way, I am just saying like :)

Re: Rooney Decision!!.....

Rooney is still the complete prick he has always been.

But I do feel the 3 game ban is extremely excessive.

You can bet your bottom dollar that if it was a French, German, Spanish, Italian, or Russian for that matter then it wouldn't of been that severe. Arshavin was only given a 2 game ban at the last Euro's for a similar incident.

That said Rooney is a bellend of the highest order and maybe this will hopefully give the stupid scouse c*nt an incentive to stop his stupid tantrums.

I think we should seriously consider not taking him to finals at all, it would be harsh on the other guys who are going to be needed because of his petulance.

I think the likes of Danny Sturridge, Danny Welbeck, possibly Zamora can step up to the plate, Especially Sturridge who I have seen quite a bit of over the last 3 years and he is going to be one hell of a player.

On a personal level it would be nice to see Zamora given a crack, to go with Geoff Bradford,Gary Mabbut, Keith Curle, John Scales, and Nigel Martyn in the ex gasheads to represent England

ferrarilover wrote:You say about beating "the likes of Torquay..." but in fairness, you got humped, and I mean properly bent over the desk and subjected to a right royal ungreased, backdoor session last season and that was only in the division above. Do you really think that there is such a difference in quality between the very bottom of L1 and the very top of L2 (we are, after all, the best team still remaining in L2, being the defeated playoff finalists) that you ought to rock up in this league and smash everybody?

Matt.
We were shit last season yes, but we didn't finish rock bottom.

There is still a huge difference between the bottom of League One and the top of League 2, it is just our manager last season was a complete numpty.

Will Hoskins would score 30+ a season in League 2, there is still a gulf in quality, whether you wish to believe it or not.

I didn't say Rovers should rock up and smash everybody, but to come out undefeated at home against Torquay, Aldershot and Cheltenham should be normal expectation for Bristol Rovers.

Anyway on a lighter note, this might make you laugh http://x.com/#!/bucklepaul" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: Comedy gold (Buckle)

Most Gasheads were going to give Buckle time, as our club is rotten to the core and it needs some stability and with all the new players coming in over the summer, most of us were prepared to give Buckle some leeway to get this club going again.

There were some poor performances but there were also some decent ones, but since the 0-0 draw with Hereford, our performances have been nothing but shocking, I think the straw that finally broke the camels back with all of us was when Buckle came out in the press with "Rovers fans should lower their expectations" REALLY???...That comment infuriated all of us, and put the guy under pressure straight away and made most of the fan base turn on him. No disrespect but you may be able to say things like that when manager of Torquay, but you cannot say things like that when at Bristol Rovers, this is only the 2nd time in our entire history that we have been this low in the football pyramid, and beating the likes of Torquay, Aldershot and Cheltenham at home should be the least of our expectations.

I was one of the main people saying that Buckle should be given time and I was adamant I wasn't going to become one of the fickle ones and bay for Buckles head, but now the time has come for me and most other Gasheads to admit that they guy is out of his depth and is not the man to take Bristol Rovers further, our chairman Nick Higgs needs to take responsibility too for employing manager after mangager who all turn out to be abject failures, he has 1 last chance to deliver our much needed stadium, if that fails then our club is going to crumble rapidly. It is sad times to be a Gashead.

I have to hold my hands up to ForeverTUFC, he came on our alternative forum and told us about Buckle and a few of us shot him down claiming it was sour grapes etc(Myself included), but fair play fella, literally everything you said has been bang on the money(Apart from your review on Zebroski, the guy is absolutely horrendous and is easily one of the worst players I have had the misfortune of seeing in a Gas shirt) and I must apologise wholeheartedly for shooting you down.

I am sure most Gulls will find this hilarious and I am sure a lot of you will be gloating in the "I told you so" camp.

I dont think Buckle will resign and I dont think our chairman will sack him, so it looks like we are stuck with him for the forseeable future.

Saying that we are still only a few points of the play off places, weirder things have happened.

You can see where ForeverTUFC got his quotes from here http://z15.invisionfree.com/bristolrove ... opic=18033" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I am sure you will all have a chuckle about Buckle :~D

Ok the first one, could of gone either way.

But the second one in the dying seconds was a complete dive. Even the Bradford players admitted it.

Apparently, this thread from the Useless Rovers board >>> http://www.brfcforum.co.uk/index.php?/t ... ch-thread/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Refers to the same match as this thread from the Bradford FC forum >>> http://bcafc.livewwware.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=65793" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Never seen two diametrically opposed views of the same match. It's coming to something when there are supporters out there who talk more bollocks than Cobblers fans, but it seems Bristol Useless have managed it.

Matt.
Again taken from our OF, which is a complete shambles and is total bullshit.

Take a look at our AF and you will see countless threads about how shit we have been, We certainly deserved to beat Bradford though.

It is funny how they say we are the worst team they have played this season, yet they needed 2 dives in the box to get a draw, and they are languishing 2nd bottom with only 6 points :na: .....Stupid **** northeners.

Re: Craig Stanley

Just like I said, Craig Stanley was droppeed because he had been playing shit.

Since he has been out of the side, we have played a lot better, A good performance away at Bradford with them getting 2 shocking penalty decisions and stealing a draw, and a decent performance against Shrewsbury.

It is a squad game and maybe that is an advantage we have over others that we can change personnel, with the options we have.

It is up to Stanley to up his game and prove that he is worthy of his place.

You have to love the rumours :lol:

friendlygas wrote:Both British gas and Gashead1979 sum up a proportiuon of our fans who seem unable to see a footballer or understand that players will have bad games and will be crucified by some fans for it. I saw Zebrowski at Orient and he was brilliant and the same could be said of Stanley against Watford.They are both good playeres at this level and I am sure as the season moves on we will see the best of them. Personally I wish British Gas and Gashead 1979 were Torquay fans!! On second thoughts I wouldnt wish them on yourselves...lets say Crawley or Northampton or Bristol City!!! I feel very ashamed of some of our fans who have not helped some of the new players to settle.
Friendlygas, They are my opinions which I am entitled to, Likewise you are with yours.

I have stated that I hope they get better once they have settled in, but both have not been at the races this season. You have mentioned 2 games where both Zebroski and Stanley have had a good game, I wasn't at the Orient game so I cannot comment on that, and granted Zebroski scored a good goal, I was at the Watford game and I thought Stanley had a decent game, the side as a whole played well that night. However that is 1 game for the both of them in 8. That is nothing to shout out about.

Both of them have been extremely poor for me, and both dont deserve to be in the starting line up, when Anyinsah is fit, he and Carayol should be on the flanks, and Wayne Brown should definatly be ahead of Stanley that is a no brainer.

To say that you wish myself and Gashead1979 were not Rovers fans is completely uncalled for, just because we have different opinions to your's.

Quite frankly, your type are the ones that get right on my nerves, slagging off fellow fans for having different opinions, and always having a wishy washy everythings great attitude when clearly it isn't.

I have stated god knows how many times that it is a new team and it is going to take a while for them all to settle in, but that still doesn't mean that I should just accept players to be playing shite every week and hope that they do eventually come good in the future(Although I do hope that is the case obviously :~D )

Zebroski was Buckles marquee signing and I know it is not Zebroski's fault that he cost what he did, but the spotlight is going to be on him more because he actually cost a few quid, and he has not looked like he is worth any of it.

So please carry on in your everything is always rosey bubble, if you wish, but dont ever judge me and tell me I should support somebody else in future :-D

Gasheads arguing amongst themselves on Torquay's forum, I guess that is another stick for you Gulls to hit Buckle with :~D

Re: The English Riviera in March

Me and a few mates used to have a time share sort of thing at The Osbourne Hotel, I cant remember what road it is on, but I am sure you Torquay folk will know what it is called. I am sure that there was a gay hotel on that road, I make that assumption as there was lots of gay pride and rainbow flags outside and everytime we came back from the night out, we did see lots of men in vests and leathers coming in and out :~D

Also is there a dogging hotspot round the corner?? Again on more than one occasion walking back we heard lots of strange noises emerging from the car park :)

I must admit Mambo's (although being a typical cheesefest bar full of irritating twatheads) was quite a pleasurable experience, I was quite impressed with the attractiveness of some of the female customers, It wasn't bad at all for such a small venue

Dave_Pougher wrote:"Mr Pougher, It does seem very much so that you are obsessed with us." :rofl:

You've gotta laugh at that quote. That single quote must be the epiphany of pot kettle black cliche EVER ! coming from the man whos been posting on our boards for four months lol

but

It gets better

"Instead of writing utter durge about Bristol Rovers,"

OK I'm wrong, I accept it. Joe K is out of the side because him and Buckle are jolly good pals, perhaps more than that? Mustapha Caryol? Why thev'e always got along swimingly. Craig has a Saturday off because......he has note form his mum?..... or maybe he has somthing else on. You decide.

I'm interested in Rovers for two reasons. I live up here WSM and the most important one I really feel that you lot don't deserve this, he's out of his depth. I actually felt that when he was here. I was grateful you took him off our hands. It really was time for us to move on.Esp with the inevitable financial constraints we were to have this year. You have massives of untaped resources in your locality, football wise and City seem to be the ones to take advantage of that and that genuinely makes me sad. However you want to defend your club and I can understand that fully but he isn't the one to take you forward. He will get the odd result that will save his neck (think you'll probably have one comming Sat) but you won't move forward in line with your expectations until you've consigned this guy to history. He's a bad egg!

Rant over

PS

Have you paid your bet yet?
Dave I have been posting on your board for 4 months correct, I actually enjoy this forum,but I dont start threads about Torquay United and I dont comment on threads regarding Torquay United. All I do is comment on threads and posts regarding my club, which are posted by Torquay fans.

Joker4 is out of the side because he refused to play for us, stating his head was not right to play. He wants to bugger off back to London and does not want to be at Bristol Rovers. The club offered him to clubs in the transfer window but he refused to move because the clubs wanting him were not in London. The club do not want players who dont want to be here, Buckles stance is the correct one. It is not alienating Joker4, he has made his bed, now he needs to lie in it.

I dont know the history between Buckle and Carayol, I am sure you can enlighten me? But there has been no falling out between the pair here, I can vouch for that.

Craig Stanley has a weekend off, probably because he has been shit and doesn't deserve his place in the side and has been dropped. It is up to him to prove his worth and get back to being something like a professional footballer. Nothing wrong with that in my eyes.

Paul Buckle may be out of his depth, I have mentioned before that the jury is very much still out on him from sections of our fan base, We will see in time whether he was the right appointment or not.

You are right, we are vastly underachieving as a football club, the City of Bristol as a whole is underachieving. You can look at Bristol City and say they are way ahead of us at the moment but that is only because of the fortunes of one man that has propelled them to be where they are. We do have huge potential as a football club, in terms of fan base and catchment area, once The UWE gets built we can go someway to being where, as fans and as a club feel we should be. I think Buckle's aim is to get us out of this division at the first time of asking, If he doesn't then our support will surely come down on him, but like I have said he needs time with so many new players, whether he gets that is another question.

I am passionate about Bristol Rovers and I want to defend them at every opportunity, when I see stuff written about them that is incorrect I just want to put my point across.

And yes Dave has recieved my cheque and he will be handing it over to your trust at tomorrows game :-D
