So you think the club should have started interviewing for the managers job before terminating Nico?SuperNickyWroe wrote: 15 Sep 2017, 17:44 the thing is that we got rid of nicho without a plan in place.

Were other clubs signing managers that were already under contract though? Or like Coxy, free agents?SuperNickyWroe wrote: 15 Sep 2017, 14:46 I don't know who the f**k you are, but welcome to earth.
other clubs managed the same "impossible" thing in two days.....
Were Bath happy to let him go straight away or did they insist on working a notice period?

Re: Craig Stanley
Makes no difference. SammyMc left prior to Stanleys contract running out. He was then offered a new one by his mate, before his existing one expired.forevertufc wrote:Totaly diss-agree with you there Fletch,Sammy macc let him go out on loan because he did not want to keep Stanners, who as we know was out of contract in the summer, when he came to Torquay Stanley was not to know Sammy macc was going to part company with Morecambe,so he came to us with a view to earn himself a contract.
A)He rates Buckle & B)He gets paid more at Brizzleforevertufc wrote:As S/G has pointed out if Paul Buckle had not gone to Bristol Rovers it is highly likely that Bristol Rovers would not have even wanted him,as you have correctly pointed out there was a change of manager at Morecambe and he was offered a new contract,Buckle went to Rovers and Stanley signed there, when he could have opted to re-sign for morecambe, what does that tell you?
You obviously havnt moved around much, a lot of players do not sell their property (as an example, Jamie Ward still has a place here, just down from me) when moving clubs. They rent it out and, if flush enough, buy another one or failing that, rent locally. It keeps you in the property ladder and provides income for retirement if you can buy more than one.forevertufc wrote:Yes bristol Rovers can afford to pay him a bit more money,It is not all about money and anyone thinks it is,is a fool,Craig Stanley would have had to have thought long and hard about this due to the fact he would have to relocate his family,as you have correctly pointed out league 2 players do not get paid that much,so relocating his family wouldhave been a massive part in any decision.
See above. Also, as a previous poster has already pointed out, when he asked him about moving his family down here, the reply was, he isnt married (unless that has changed recently).forevertufc wrote:He is a good friend of the new Morecambe manager,he also spent the last 6 monts playing under Paul Buckle's management,he chose to take the option of moving his family from the north to the south a pretty big move to play for paul Buckle, what does that tell me,Craig Stanley clearly respects and throughly enjoys playing his football under Paul Buckle, therefore had Paul buckle stayed he would most likely have signed for Torquay, pretty simple to me.

Unless someone was twisting his arm to sign for Brizzle (his agent perhaps?), there is nothing to say he couldnt have waited to see who our new manager was.Southampton Gull wrote:Only if they wanted him, Fletch.
You are, of course, assuming we didnt make a preliminary offer of a contract as we did with Bevs?

Re: Craig Stanley
Not exactly forever, Stanley was under contract to Morecambe. Yes he said he would like to sign for us (when his contract ran out), however SammyMc left and his mate at Morcambe offered him a new contract.forevertufc wrote: Yes good point ,Yellow, however there is a difference here,Stanley was out of contract came to us with a view to singing on,and its clear that if Buckle had stayed Stanley would have signed for us,and what a signing that would have been.
That it coincided with Buckle leaving should have no bearing if he really wanted to sign for us (unless the case was, he wanted to play for Buckle wherever he was).
If he really wanted to sign for Torquay, he would have done.
I dont blame him for no doubt picking up the bigger paycheck on offer from Brizzle. Its not like L2 players earn a fortune like the prima donnas in the Prem and the career is a short one in relation to the real world....

Re: Date of New Manager Appointment
You may be totally right there matey. I also seem to remember there was a 5 year plan to get us back into the league when we dropped into the BSP?? Guess that one got overtaken by events as wellregiment wrote:does anyone think it possible, that the board didn't expect us to get into the play offs, let alone the final, and as a result, this shunted their decisions by a couple of weeks. maybe they'd planned to put PB on gardening leave after the rovrum match, he then joins rovers on 1st june (or whatever), by which time, we've had 2 weeks to appoint a new manager.

Strangely enough, i was going to point out "the translator" as a perfect example. Also "Arse" had very little pro footie experience before moving into coaching.Jerry wrote: Pretty decent ones actually. Fergie played for Rangers and Dunfermline (when they were one of the top Scottish sides), Greenwood played in the Chelsea side that won the league back in the fifties.
Better examples would have been, Arrigo Sacchi, who never played pro football and went on to create arguably the greatest club side ever at AC Milan in the Eighties,or Jose Mourinho.

You cant really blame them for Zebs having a rush of blood to give away the penalty :-| We were always going to struggle with 10 men...tufcfan wrote:didn't like their attitude at all when they came to Plainmoor, wasn't very impressive at all, if they had won fair and square I would have probably been happy for them, but they weren't!

Apart from the fact that both of them are predominantly right sided CBs. Neither seem overly happy at playing as left CB and neither look comfortable playing there. It may be that Joe Oastler (who spent most of his time at QPR as a CB) is more comfortable there but I have no idea if he is more natural at left or right CB.Chris B wrote:Whilst Robbo and Ellis will need time to form a partnership, and we can expect some errors, surely they are the promising future of our central defence?
