Torquayunited v Woking Fa Cup 1st round 10/11/18

AmberArmy wrote: 11 Nov 2018, 09:51 Woking number 9 was nowhere near the ball or interfering with play for the penalty so couldn’t have been offside.

On the foul, he had to bring back play because HE HAD ALREADY GIVEN THE FOUL before the tackle in the area.

Penalty was a scandalous decision though.

Interesting to see the view that only Torquay players are allowed to celebrate in front of opposition fans? But when the opposition does it it’s BANG OUT OF ORDER? Please advise.
What rubbish you talk.

1) The Woking number 9 was drawing Torquay’s defence with him, they had to cover him, of course he was interfering with play.

2) The ref had waved play on, why did he suddenly change his mind? Because he lost the plot that’s why.

3) The celebrations from Woking were way OTT, formation fricking dancing well after the final whistle just to rub in a lucky win. And Gerring insulted the whole Torquay pop side, not that I care, it is the level of his intelligence.

I look forward to payback in the away game.

Torquayunited v Woking Fa Cup 1st round 10/11/18

Just seen the highlights of the game. Sadly these missed out the refereeing cock up in the second half, where the idiot ref waved play on after a foul on a Gulls player 10 yards outside the box, but after a blatant foul IN the box 2 or 3 seconds later blew up and gave it the first foul. The penalty against us? Marginal at best, but why the hell wasn’t the Woking number 9 given offside? He was a couple of yards offside when the ball was passed forward. The Lino on the pop side was another idiot, we do get them.

When I left Plainmoor yesterday I felt quite depressed, but the highlights cheered me a little as they show that we had a decent crack at Woking at times. I don’t like Woking, their fans or their over the top celebrations at the end. And as for Gerring, yes a few people gave him a few choice words. What did he expect? “Welcome back Ben, please play well and help your team to beat us”.

Torquayunited v Woking Fa Cup 1st round 10/11/18

HockeyGull wrote: 10 Nov 2018, 17:36 No visit to Wembley this season. Three shots kicked off the line, Woking keeper made several good saves in the first half. Dubious penalty, from my angle it looked as though Niate had won the ball. The referee saw it differently. Over 300 away fans, a lot will have a lot to tell their schoolmates on Monday. Former Torquay centre half Ben Gerring showed his class at the final whistle. Perhaps not the sharpest tool in the box.
I agree re the Woking fans, what a bunch of little tossers. Especially the boy with a scrawny body who decided to take his shirt off, he hadn’t eaten his spinach. As for Gerring, the fat donkey showed up his utter stupidity at the end.

Samir Nabi Red Card Appeal

Plainmoor78 wrote: 03 Nov 2018, 15:33 And why would a referee favour the home team unless under influence from home crowd or bribery?
Its just a myth put about by sore losers.
As you like, I have seen it too many times to count. I’m not saying it’s deliberate, but it happens. I’m not a sore loser, I think a draw was a fair result, but some of his decisions on Tuesday were appalling, as evidenced by the video of the game.

Samir Nabi Red Card Appeal

Plainmoor78 wrote: 03 Nov 2018, 13:23 I thought a homer referred to a referee who was unduly influenced by the home crowd. Hardly the explanation in this case.
I have never understood it to be this, but a ref who favours the home team. And he certainly did that.

If this appeal fails it will be a real injustice. The ref proved himself to be utterly incompetent and the video evidence is crystal clear. This should not have been a penalty and should not have been a sending off. The ref was a prejudiced homer, all through the match.

Weston Super Mare v Torquay United 30/10/2018 ko 7.45

toastkid wrote: 02 Nov 2018, 23:00 Poor show though, blaming the referee.
We didn't deserve anything from that game.
Weston played well out of defence and were direct when they could get forward.

We played for 15 mins at the start of the second half and then disappeared again.

I don't blame the ref for that.
There’s a huge difference between (1) blaming the ref for losing/playing badly and (2) pointing out the huge errors made by this imbecilic ref during the match. The penalty decision was a disgrace and the sending off was beyond idiotic. I’m sorry, but yes we played well below our best and yes we didn’t really deserve to win, but the ref was dreadful and he made an unforgivable mistake that cost us a goal. If we don’t win the appeal then we will have every right to be livid. I hope I never see this ref again, he’s an incompetent fool.

Harrop Has Left The Building

Some helpful comments and information, throwing more light on what has happened. I, amongst others, have blamed Geoff Harrop for some of our pain over recent years, and this blame has clearly been excessive. Gulls fans have been through much crap over the past few years, and have been let down by some who have led the club badly. It isn’t surprising that we have sometimes commented in an OTT way, but it must be hard to be in the receiving end of this. I therefore wish Geoff Harrop well in his future, hope he finds somewhere to use his clear youth development skills.

Torquay United V Woking - 29/09/18

Excellent second half performance, played Woking off the field and could have won it. What a difference to the games under Owers. Gutsy, committed performances from most players. Superb atmosphere, GJ on the field at the end. Felt great to be there. The ref gave Woking their first goal through his ineptitude.

PS The number 3 for Woking, their skipper, is a cheating little ponce.

Gary Owers Steps Down

Southampton Gull wrote: 12 Sep 2018, 13:04 One of the worst Managers we've ever had in my opinion.
Have to agree with that Dave. The home games that I have been to this season were horrifying. No clear shape, no obvious plan, players cast adrift utterly clueless about what to do next, players afraid to get the ball. Watching the opposition team managers encouraging their players, geeing them up, pointing things out, and comparing this to a man who looked beaten from the kick off.

Owers is delivering the five year plan, extinction by 2020, so he won’t change things.

I couldn’t go today. Not sorry now. I had a tear in my eye listening to this and refllecting how far we have fallen. Chippenham Town, this is just a nightmare.

I still think 1400-1600 will be there paying and clapping at the end.

To those who threw the beer, I say well done. To anybody who threw some abuse towards Owers, I say well done. To all those who would like to sit down and have a rational discussion with the owner and his management team, I say good luck to you but you're being laughed at.
Surely you don’t mean that. Be angry by all means, tell him what you think, but throwing beer? Come on, that is juvenile and demeaning, as well as potentially criminal.

But, despite the embarrassment of losing at Plainmoor, (oh,and nice of your fans to spit on our manager)we are doing OK for a team of piss heads picked at the pub car park on a Saturday morning to play in a pub league.
Keep faith in GO. I'm sure he will take you to where you deserve to be.
Bit unnecessary. Most of us acknowledged that Bath were the better side. If “fans” spat at the Bath Manager then that is disgraceful, but please acknowledge that this was a few knuckle draggers, most Gulls fans are decent people. We also aren’t the arrogant lot you hint at, we know we have fallen from grace and deserve it because of appalling mismanagement for several years by several people who should hold their heads in shame. I wish Bath well, they looked a decent side to me, unlike our badly managed bunch. And thanks for Owers, you can have him back any time.
