Nothing against you steve or Baker come to that , but Baker did make the decision to say publicly on the O/S that we wouldn't be bringing anyone in BEFORE the transfer window shut when it was obvious that the side needed freshening up. Why did he do that? He had no need. Most would question why he felt he had to do that and what his motivation was.stevegull wrote:Well said Budleigh. I'm not sure how everyone is blaming Baker and Phillips so completely. I guess people want a scapegoat.
I know we've been slow to get people in... but who's to say that's down to Baker?
HT Terrible first half.

Fair enough Dave. One criticism I have always levelled at Baker is that he's a bit 'media happy'. A bit like Dave Whelan in the Premier League with Wigan. If there's a local issue the journalists always know they are the rent-a-quote type of people in positions of power. Like all that tripe about artificial pitches.
Maybe one day, Carayol will find London...

The thing is, if we write this game off then fair enough but that would be ok if we went into Southend on saturday with some serious sh*t. At the end of the day it's 11 v 11 so why can't we do that and beat Southend? We won't do that though and that is the whole point. It's always, the next game we'll be ok and we'll lose and then it's the next game and the next game after that. That is why not many people can see where the positives are. We are basically just hoping to match Accrington and Plymouths results in order to stay up and that is soul destroying if i'm honest. We cannot win ANY football matches so we have to rely on others being equally as sh*t. I feel sick if i'm honest.
We'll get battered by Southend and Knill will come out with something ridiculous and then us fans will be up for Chesterfield where we'll probably lose but might get a point and another 2 games have gone and so on and so forth. This relegation battle is going right down to the final day because there are at least 3 teams who are as incredibly sh*t as one another and nobody will put any form together.

Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.
I really feel for everyone that has travelled to watch this game, maybe the club should think about paying for there tickets!

So yes, there are 10 games left but we won't win many of them if any and neither will the other 2 teams so we might as well have a last day shootout.

Were any subs made when Downes went off?

MacDonald for Benyon.
Formerly dannyrvtufc4life.
Poor.
Can't argue with the pen, last man and all that. Although their lad went down a bit easily.
Game ruined. Two poor teams, we've got no cutting edge and too many holes at the back. Whether we'd have done any better with a full compliament I'm not sure.

Regardless of the outcome of this season Baker and Phillips must realise they have to step aside next season to increase attendances if nothing else!
What ever the financial position what ever the problems at the club they have overseen a period where we could have been the top club in Devon to a period wherby we could lose our league staus for a very long time.
Boys get out for the sake of the club.
