The mans credibility is shot. No. No. No.
"Strength in depth from the bottom up"
"Power and direction from the top down"
When its power and direction from the bottom up, it's strength in depth from the top down.
The structure needs excavating, the week parts removed, new foundations laid and all works carefully overseen and scrutinised. This applies to more than the f*ck*d playing surface.
Hard hat in muddy boots and hi viz yellow is watching.

can you honestly say we would have won those games with ling in charge?
Can you say we wouldn't?
Who is to say that if Martin Ling hadn't needed to take a break we wouldn't be safe already?
Bloody northerners.

How is it shot?
He signed players that have proved to be very good for the most part. Olejnik, Saah, Downes to name just 3. Jarvis is starting to win admirers, Bodin might have struggled for form but is an Under 21 international.
His credibility is far from shot.

Is Ling not officially more successful as a manager than Knill?
(As usual) I agree with Dave.
I'm pleased Ling is returning, regardless of the fine job Knill has done since coming in. Knill hasn't exactly been inspiring however, he has done what was needed (providing we stay up!).
I think Ling may have been affected by his stress-related problems for longer than we thought this season. Hopefully that's all behind him and he can now fully focus on how to develop this team he has been building.

Maybe one day, Carayol will find London...

No, I didn't pass off a definitive answer so how can I be wrong?

Where is Brucie when you need him to crystallise what is wrong with the general direction of this thread???
If we are successful in saving our league status next week then this will be down to Knill/Brass. It will be nothing to do with Ling/Taylor who spent most of the early season setting up the team to deliver drab and, as it turns out, unsuccessful football and then went sick when the pressure came on.
I have to say that i would have to reconsider my decision to renew my season ticket if the Board decided to drop Knill and take up again with Ling. That, in my mind would be the height of folly.

Hardly dropping Knill. He may not want to stay as he is northern based. He is here as cover.Modgull wrote:Where is Brucie when you need him to crystallise what is wrong with the general direction of this thread???

Ok, he's ready to return to work. For how long and In what capacity ?
A sizeable portion of the squad need releasing, especially the under performing of this season together with the rarely used squad fillers. We need proper strength in depth so under performing players can be dropped/rested.
If he starts the season as manager, Martin Ling is in for a rough ride if the lessons of this season have not been learned and the team don't get off to a flyer.

I realise you're a bit dense (prerequisite for someone with your accent) but did I say you did? You said we were both wrong, my reply was that I hadn't given a definitive answer so I'd give up on this one if I was you..................SuperNickyWroe wrote:
