I give up, i just feel so much sadness for that family. I don't know where to go from here that's all.
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

So do I. It's awful. I couldn't imagine losing my daughter. But Luke has been made an example of in the press. He made a serious mistake and stupid error of judgement (under the influence). It wasn't intentional and the man has to live his life and life it knowing he killed 2 kids that he will have to deal with until the day he dies.

I accept that USA, and as a reasonable human being i should be able to forgive as we all should but i just couldn't bring myself to support him if he signed for us. Not because i'm a neanderthal but because the outcome of the man's negligence was just so devastating that i simply cannot come to terms with accepting his presence in my company. That is what i would have to do should he have signed for us and therefore i would have had to stay away from games until he left. I don't wish to cut his hands off or torture him like Dave suggested that's what i wanted. That is just a totally unreasonable and frankly ridiculous response to my views. I've accepted that he has to get on with his life but i don't have to like it, i'm sure if Jimmy Saville had been alive and served his sentence that some of you know he would have to be released to get on with his life but if you had a choice you'd choose not to live next door to him or go out for a pint with him wouldn't you? This is the same. We cannot all agree and accept everybody and everything and live in perfect harmony.

I wonder if Dave SG thinks the same or whether he'd be happy to see him begin a career in football management at Torquay? :na:

The analogy being that if you stop him having a career you might as well have cut his hands off. Thought you might see past the literal meaning, Andy.

Having read this whole thread again I can't see anywhere that anybody has said what he did was fine or condone his actions.
Whilst I accept that some people may have woken up the morning after the night before and inadvertently driven whilst over the limit, McCormick was drinking beer and sambucca till 2am, had two hours sleep, then drove....anybody who gets in a car then thinking they are ok is a bloody moron.

With the above taken into account, I agree he deserved everything he got. The fact that his sentence was pitiful is nothing to do with him - I agree that it was a pathetic sentence for what he did, but that's happened and we move on - the courts etc should be the ones held accountable for that and nobody else.

Moving on to his rehabilitation, I can see where you are coming from Andy. The mere thought of a paedophile living next door to me sends shivers down my spine, but this instance is different - he is not a cold blooded murderer (in the planning to go around and kill somebody sense) albeit he has killed and lives with those consequences for the rest of his life.

What he does with his life now is his business - we are not having to support him by ensuring he can no longer get a job (by we I do of course mean you in the UK given that I don't pay UK taxes), and he has chosen to go back to what he knows best.
In ten years time (or maybe less) he won't have a football career again, given the short lifetime of a football player, and so it will be interesting to see what comes his way. I think it will be then that we will see him struggle.

For some, the force is with them.

For some, like our own Judge D. Red, the blessings of the prophet be on you.

That's not what it sounded like, it sounded like you were referring to me wanting a society like Saudi or something. There was no analogy that i could understand in what you said Dave.
