Well done Wigan!!
Congratulations to Wigan for winning the FA Cup. Two genuine, likeable, straight people in Dave Whelan and Roberto Martinez, well deserved success for them both. Nice to see the good guys win.

Amazing journey
Just wondering who were the other fans there that night in the early 90s when there was supposedly only 11 of us (thoughi only remember 4 or 5 of us)
They decided not to open the bank so we were ushered into the seats!

An Austrian gets to lift the FA Cup! Congrats to Paul Scharner and Wigan for this achievement. Sadly it's a Pompey moment and they'll be in the Championship next season and not before time, if they are not prepared to progress then there's only one way i'm afraid. Not sure i think Martinez is as good a manager as everyone makes out but he's a really honest decent bloke and i'm pleased for him and the 'real' 2500 fans of Wigan and the others who began supporting them in league 1 and the championship. Well done Wigan and it's so good to see Man City get beat, not because i hate them because they've got loads of money but because they didn't deserve it. Oh and Mancini is a total bell end.
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

one of the most enjoyable cup finals for a while. no dispespect to man city but its great for one of the underdogs to win it for a change. well deserved on the day.
loved seeing the faces of mancini, platt and kidd at the whistle. Then the camera panned to the man city owners having a "bit" of a discussion. =D =D =D

People moaning about a boring game on Twitter, but they're Premier League idiots. Best Cup final for ages because it featured at least one team actually trying to win, rather than two teams trying not to lose.

Brilliant that Wigan Won. A Very well done to them. One for the underdogs.
It will probably bring more cries for the Cup to be scrapped by the bog boys who have tried so hard to devalue the competition. Cue Manure. Mincit. Liverpuddle. Chelski. Et all to pull out of cup in favour of world club money bags competition where all small clubs are forevevr barred. Real fans priced out of the game and eventually the games end up looking like a cup game in North Korea.
With that thought in mind. Would it not be funny if instead of all the bog clubs pulling out of the competitions, Instead all the little clubs in Europe pulled out and set up their own competition. And pulled out of Uefa and fifa too. Sticking two fingures up at that corrupt bunch of neanderthals that have done so much to ruin the real game. I bet the crowds would come back to see real football. played by real players who really care about comunity run clubs where money does not rule.

Do Wigan get into the UEFA Cup now then?
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.
Yes they do (or the Europa League as it's now called) as do Swansea.

Cheers Jerry, i like to see teams in the UEFA Cup who don't usually play in Europe, it makes a nice change from the usual clubs who see it as beneath them unless they get near a final that is.

The idea is a lovely one, GG. However, there are far too many clubs about who will want to make a tonne of money out of it and you'd just end up with a tier system with the top tier being rich and the bottom tiers being skint. Ring any bells?Glostergull wrote:Brilliant that Wigan Won. A Very well done to them. One for the underdogs.

I went to this, sat in the city end and celebrated with Wigan at the end of this and wow what a day it was! Along with my mate,I was the last person sat in the city block(we were right next to the netting separating the fans! Completely deserved and glad to be part of history.

One of the most enjoyable finals for a few years IMHO. I enjoyed it as Wigan really showed that they can play some real eye pleasing footy and and well deserved their win. Well done to them and it's really uplifting to see them come up through the Northern Premier League, into the FL and now achieve like they have. Well done and not a little emotion felt for Dave Whelan as well. Despite his money pushing them on this is still a great story in modern football. Just great I say
