I think this weekend just gone has highlighted just why football is the greatest game in the world and will never be beaten. The drama of the FA Cup final (i'm sure most Wigan fans were expecting a poor Man City side to come out in extra time and start playing and their chance had gone) where Zabaleta gets sent off and Wigan fans still probably thought it could go to penalties but they wouldn't win outright. Then up pops Watson in the last minute to nail it and even then the Wigan fans must have expected City to equalise such as seems to happen with the big clubs.
Then we get the Watford v Leicester game where Knockaert can send Leicester to Wembley by scoring a penalty in the dying minutes and i'm sure the moment the ref awarded the pen all the Watford fans were resigned to defeat but Almunia saved only for the ball to come out to the Leicester player again to tuck home. Even for that split second the Watford fans were thinking it's over as he can't miss that but he did. Then seconds later it's a winner for Watford! Absolutely incredible drama that only football could produce.
It's why we all love the game, the not knowing what will happen or when. The elation for those Leicester fans swiftly taken away by a minute of craziness. The resignation of those Watford fans taken away by a minute of craziness. Incredible.
I <3 FOOTBALL!!!!
I just hope Knill can give us a bit of drama and excitement next season and it's happy days!
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.
