I've just about got over all symptoms of whatever sh*tty virus i had but can't shift an oesophagus issue. The doc has said that my throat is inflamed and i've had antibiotics but now i've got like an annoying lump sensation in my oesophagus that i can't get rid of permanently. I had it for about a week leading up to the Morecambe game and when i went on holiday it went and came back last week. It feels like something is stuck and you cannot swallow it or bring it up and it's a real pain in the arse. It could be caused by inflammation due to GERD i suppose but just wondered if anyone had experienced anything like this and what happened. Could really do with some 'comforting' advice of you have. Any cruel tw*ts that come on and say i've got throat cancer can do one as i asked my doc after a load of blood tests and he said i hadn't and they were normal. :na:

I'd appreciate any help. God i feel like one of these housewives in America that post their medical problems on random health websites! :-/

depends whereabouts it is.

if its at the top and when you swallow feels like the front of your oesophagus is higher than the back - creating a "lip" like sensation, that usually indicates you have been drinking too much! usually when you return from a holiday.....

alternatively, if its lower down that indicates to me that is a hiatus hernia.

hope that helps.

by the way thats £50 you owe me for my consultation........

also, stop being a f**king dot cotton and man up you derbyshire ponce. you can have that advice for free.

What's a friggin' hiatus hernia?! Sounds like a Bolivian striker! :S

If it's a choice between the two then it's the Bolivian striker that i've got, it's around the adams apple area , probably a bit lower. Oddly it seems to be a lot better today but i need to get it checked out. When you actually think how many things can go wrong with your body and how complex it is it just makes me laugh even more at people who still believe we were made by God!! Haha, not even God is that clever.

The thing is though Super, i had this for about a week BEFORE i went on holiday and whilst on holiday i got hammered and it was fine and then when i've come back and cut down on the intake again the lump sensation has returned! It's not painful just uncomfortable and annoying and sometimes food can take a bit of time to go down. I've got a stricture!!!! Help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

My I set your mind at rest. The last thing you have is a pain in the arse. That's most definately Piles. or hemeroids. Although you can include the wife as she is sometimes just as bad.
If you have a sore throat and it gives you a pain in the arse you really do have trouble and you won't find a cure in any medical dictionary. It maybe you have an unknown assailant. try looking around, especially behind you., They do have a habit of creeping up unawares.
Regarding the matter of hiatus hernia.
I really doubt that one. If you are of the habit of eating or drinking last thing at night you would more than likely suffer from symptoms if you have this sort of hernia. You would feel a sore throat with regularity. You will find bile or your food coming up with out warning and then as you catch yourself it can go down again leaving a horible sensation of vomit in your mouth. if your unlucky it can go down your wind pipe and could choke you but more than likely you will have a coughing fit and hopefully it will come back out and you either spit it out of swallow it. The burning sensation will be something like you won't want to experience too often. and will leave you coughing for ages. The hiatus hernia occurs just at the point where your diaphram seperates the abdomen from your chest. it is meant to be the point where your pipe from your gob goes through the diaphram to your stomach. it has a valve which is mean to stop food coming back up. mine has failed hence i have my very own. It usualy comes up with lots of acid hence the burning sensation.
There are plenty of drugs available to cut out the acid and help stop it nowadays.
There is another thing you can try for a sore throat. ice lollies and lots of em. and i find deqacain is good too but don't take too many
There is another idea i have but unofficial. Have you tried knife swallowing. It kinda takes a bit of practice but I am sure you could master it given time. then you can take out the tonsils as you swallow. or even better. Try using a soldering iron. just stick it down your throat and burn out the tonsils. Hey presto done and dusted cuaterized in one go. maybe a bit sore fore a few days but hey you get that from the wife and that lasts for years. (just joking folks don't try it at home. for the idiots among us )
Always Look on the bright side of life
