Ex Man Utd players have generally not done that well in management-Robson,Bruce,Ince,Stachan,Coppell,Keane-all seem to get jobs easily enough despite mixed, and in some cases very poor, records as managers.
George Graham did pretty well-and the role of assistant manager seems to suit the likes of Jordan,Kidd and Wilkins but they only seem to get employed because of who they played for and their ability as players;rather than any obvious managerial ability and skills.

Bruce has done ok. Coppell has been pretty successful over the years. Strachan has won titles I know in the SPL but still.

It depends on the individuals definition of ok i suppose. For example, some people would still say that Ling did ok at Torquay and some won't. I'd say that Hughes failed at Fulham whereas some think he did ok there. I think Bruce has done ok despite whinging about refs every week which i'm sure he'll be doing back on our screens again come August, Strachan has done ok i suppose. If he can get Scotland to win a match then he will have surpassed all his managerial achievements in one 90 minute period!
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

I take the point of this, but the blow is softened somewhat if the other players a manager signs dominates English and European football for 20 years. Hughes won the Mickey Mouse Shield. Once.
By the same token, tot up Hughes's duds v dudes and you'll likely find it's a 50/50 split (or thereabouts). SAF's rate was probably closer to 95/5 and included a generation of youth talent the like of which is unlikely ever to be repeated.

He's not a manager, just like Keane and just like Southgate.

Matt.

Hargreaves I disagree with, only injury messed that signing up. Fantastic player and Englands best player in 06 was it?

expensive duds

Schevchenko
Torres
Carroll
Robbie Keane (though good player)
and one for Andy......Bodin
