Couldn't have asked for better over the Christmas period.
Shame about the Gargs at home being mid-week-but will still be twice the attendance we get for a normal mid-week fixture.

The atmosphere will also be far better for a night game.

I dont see the complaint with having Argyle home on a Tuesday night. For the most part more people can make it (assuming no champions league guff on the box). I appreciate not ideal for exiles but for someone like myself who plays football on a Saturday it couldnt be better!!

As previously mentioned I always find the atmosphere better at the evening games and hopefully a 5000+ crowd!!

Three home and two away games in August, and not much to fear from any of them. Should get us off to a good start for a much, much better season than we suffered last time. :-D

Home on the 1st and last days, tough September on paper so it's important we have a good August. The weather will change that fixture list around but looks another southern based league in the main which is nice.

Southern based? Are you sure? Looks like a hell of alot of M6 to me!
Fate: A police dog called Bryn bit Torquay player Jim McNichol and the time while he was receiving treatment was added onto the end of the second half.

Pretty happy with that on first glance. At least we don't have the utter idiocy of Gulls v Bradford, York v GAWS on a BH monday like last season! The GAWS game being on a Tuesday night raises some issues. Is it a Chumps League night? If so we need to maximise the away following to compensate for the stayhomes. There must be a way of giving the Cornish 2k+ tickets cos as sure as anything 4k+ Gulls won't turn up.

I notice that on Saturday 31st August we play Hartlepool while the Greeks play York. It's still summer (cough). How about moving the Kick off time of our game to say 7pm? This would give more time for the travelling fans to get here and will make it a defo stayover. Have a quick chat with Pools admin and promote it. While you are at it, talk to York admin and offer the opportunity of Yorks fans taking in 2 games that day. It would also give the local footballers the chance to come along after their game. As an experiment TUFC have nothing to lose, as it is Pools will bring a handfull so any potential increase in a game that would normally get around 2.5k is a bonus. Maybe even attract some of the local prem fans whose game has finished. Just a thought.

Unless both teams are topping the league and playing scintillating football..

Argyle, Exeter, Southend, Portsmouth, Daggers, Oxford, Cheltenham, Wycombe, Northampton, Bristol Rovers, Newport aint too bad :)

Admittedly with the addition of Bury, Hartlepool and Scunny we have 3 stinkers added.

i think saturday early evening games are a great idea and would raise the gate and promote a great atmosphere.the reasons in the above post are spot on, it would allow local footballers to watch after their games have finished for example, and yes the armchair prem brigade may even come along. for many fans it could make for a good saturday night, go to football, watch a torquay win, a few beverages in boots and laces, then out on the lash, happy days.

however, there were saturday evening kick offs for matches in the 80's which were very popular but in the 86-87 season wolverhampton wanderers visited for a saturday evening fixture and beforehand spent the afternoon drinking, behaving like yobs through torquay, smashing up various parts of the town. that evening at plainmoor there were more violent seasons and bad drunken behaviour.

this was not the only incident of this nature during those times but clearly the worst. after this happened for the rest of that season and the whole of the next, barring the playoffs there was a total ban on away fans and a torquay fans membership scheme brought in.you couldnt get in without your card.

i would love to see saturday evening kick offs though , it is about time, things have changed and maybe we could try it for at least a few games.

over to you mr candy.
You are my torquay, my only torquay, you make me happy when skies are grey, you'll never know, just, how much i love you, so don't take my torquay away.

As its licensed by companies who want to actually pay to list them(we don't), rather than just send them to another website.

The fixtures have fallen nicely for me, had 8hrs holiday left to use, it really was a case of do I use the hrs to go to Cheltenham or Portsmouth, Cheltenham away has fallen during an already booked holiday, so now sweet talk the boss and I get to both..happy days.. :)

Desperately hoping I'll be able to make all three games over Christmas! I usually have to work either Boxing Day/NYD and I work Sundays which Exeter is on. Start working on it now :P
