Thought that Nando's were not too bad, lean white meat, salad etc. as long as not too many chips are served with it. I followed Tony Bedeau once in a petrol filling station shop, he bought about £20.00 worth of Mars bars, Yorkies & maltesers!!!Bully wrote:Hereford being where it is geographically means fewer distractions and no Nando's!! As I say, Foyle is very good at nuturing the young lads, so hopefully it will rub off on Leadbitter.
From a playing point of view, we have low expectations these days, so if he puts the effort in like you say he does, then the end result will probably be irrelevant!!

I am not on twitter so have no idea what Danny.L puts on there, he is a very young player and probably behave's at times like a normal 22 year old, not allways a sign he is going to turn into a bad egg.
As a player it's already been said, he is very fit, quick and will run up and down the pitch all day thats where the good news ends. A real problem with quailty and end product. His attempts to switch play would often end up in Bristows bench or some way behind it's intended target, ball played into the box by Danny.L, one in ten spot on, the other nine would have fans ducking for cover and crow's avoiding the general area at all costs.
If he knuckles down and he will have to at 22 and can add some quailty to his game, could be one hell of a player.

I'm excited about Hereford possibly getting a Nando's, we don't have much going on here and I want to know what all the fuss is about.
As a friend of Daniel Leadbitter I feel I have to put this so called"bad attitude" you write about to bed.
He'd never do it himself,so its about time someone defended him.
For a start have any of you on this site actually met him? If you had you'd see no attitude.
The last thing he would be is"Billy big Bollocks!" So what gives people who don't know him the right to label him that!
Yes he played under 3 managers,Martin Ling had a core of favourites who he was too scared to change, your"interim"manager was indeed clueless and Alan Knill was impressed but again couldn't wait for someone to develop and preferred experience...given a run of 10-20 games and any faults you saw could
be polished up,in his short run of games he picked up man if the match twice,Joe Oastler never got man of the match in 140 games!
Finally the most insulting to him is the likes of Ferrarilover who while sending him nice good luck tweets then slags him off on your forum which I find spineless!
Dan has never used the the words"nigga"or"fam" on twitter and yes he does like Nando's and having tattoos and"garish"boots is merely fashion! He goes to the gym every day to strengthen his back which was the cause of many injuries at Newcastle and to build up strength and had to go to the gym because Torquay have zero facilities!
I believe given a run of games wherever he goes he will be able to develop into a good player
You're all entitled to an opinion about the player but getting personal about someone you don't know isn't acceptable...and labelling him with as having a bad attitude is wrong

I have a lot of sympathy with what is said here. Comments about players on here do get too personal. Hardly anybody on here actually knows him. all we can really judge is how he performed. I thought he was a decent enough player, with some really good plus points and a few "room for improvements". I wish him well.Solano wrote:As a friend of Daniel Leadbitter I feel I have to put this so called"bad attitude" you write about to bed.

An interesting post by solano and a little bit sad to read. danny leadbitter to me was a rough diamond yes he made mistakes but he has bags of potential and personally ime suprised that alan knill choose to release him. I personally think he will do very well and hereford and will prove to be an excellent signing for them the conference is a good breeding ground for young talent so i wish him all the best at his next club and you never know maby it isnt the last time we see danny in a torquay shirt. As for slaggling the player off the forum is what it is yes know one likes to here bad mouthing however it needs to be taken with a pinch of salt as does twitter but some people on here go a little over the top sometimes remember people the forum is meant to be a bit of fun.

I have said it before to friends and family of players who have come on here and I will say it again. No player his family or friends should ever take the opinion of fans to heart, football is a public entertainment buisness, where from the chairman to the manager, players, fans and media alike everyone has an opinion, and has every right to express it with in reason.
If you read fans forum's from man.u to Dorchester you will find fans disscussing the relative merits of current and former players, and the opinions are not allways good, from Nani to some player no one as every heard of. At the end of day there is only one opinion that counts, that of the manager.
To be fair to those in general on this site, it was after all Martin Ling who went public suggesting that your friend Danny.L had a poor attitude to his football and no one else, so if Lingy says it, what are us fans supposed to think.
To honest as a fan, I think Danny does have a lot of potential, he needs games though, and the conference as suggested is where he is likely to get games. Now if you can not cope with any further opinions expressed on here please feel free to exercise your right to not read or respond.

Thats a fair response if you know him. I too thought he looked a good player but I guess as Knill had an experienced right back lined up that is why he was released. As has been said he needs games so Hereford is a good move for him.

I think Solano makes a reasonable. point. We're all entitled to our opinions on the players footballing abilities, but we're going too far if we make assumptions about their personalities. For my own part, I apologise for doing so and wish him well.

I'm presuming I am being referred to with the 'Billy Big Bollocks' comment from Solano?SteveDeckchair wrote:I quite liked Daniel Leadbitter and think with a bit more nurturing, he could have held his own in league two no probs.
However, I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but it has been aluded to that he has a bit of a problem with his attitude / application. Billy big bollocks perhaps?
Anyway, lots of talent, just needs to get his head down and crack on with it.
I think I give a fairly balanced view though and as stated, I am just referring to what others have said elsewhere (apparently Martin Ling!). I'd have been more than happy to see him remain a Torquay player though.
Solano, opinions are like arseholes. Everyone has one. I still find it astonishing why some people get worked up over some of the guff that's posted on here!
Mmmmmm, beeeeeeeer.
Agreed Stevie.D .Look at some of the utter crud written about the Likes of Beckham and Rooney, in fact just about every England player after a poor performance in the media and mainly on fans forum's. As said it's, whether we like it or not part and parcel of football, you either take it on the chin or cry like a big girl.
I have read word for word every reply on this thread can't see a single personal attack some have expresse3d opinions about his attitude, but again it was Martin Ling who said the lad needed to improve on that part of his life along with Macklin, most in fact have been supportive and said kind things about Danny.L , really do not see where or what the problem is.

Solano, I think you may also be in need of some spinal strengthening if my previous post has caused you any great consternation. I've had a jibe about his appearance and his preference for song lyrics on Twitter and chicken for dinner. I have offered some balanced review of his footballing ability and concluded by suggesting that he is a decent chap, indicating to anyone with any sense that I mean him absolutely no harm by my jovial comments.
I sent him good wishes on Twitter and we shared a joke, all very amiable.
If you're that fussed, Andy Candy has my contact details on file (from a previous all mouth/no trousers incident stemming from this little corner of the Internet. Feel free to forward them on to Danny, along with a copy of my posts and he can decide for himself if he wants to punch me on the nose).
For **** sake!
Matt.

My opinion on Danny for what it's worth is purely based on football as I don't use twitter, I've never had a nando's especially with chicken now i'm a veggie and if I do hear any rap/reggae/soul/jazz type music in a shop I leave or if anybody pulls up at the side of me in the car with it on I wind my window up as I can't stand it. But hey, i'm a metaller and i'd expect Danny to do the same if the scenarios were reversed.
As for him as a player, I didn't see too much of of him but the memory of him that sticks out in my head was when he played away at Rochdale last season. We were f*cking abysmal and lost 1-0 and had one chance but at least Danny was trying to look for the ball and bomb up the wings trying to create something whilst the rest of the team looked like extras from Resi Evil. I appreciated that impetus and drive and effort to get something going which is more that can be said for the rest of the squad. He did get caught out of position a lot because of this desire to get forward but i'd rather him get up the pitch trying to create and lost the odd goal at the back because he was slow getting back. I don't think Danny was Lings type of player as he liked to cross the halfway line more than once a season.
I think Danny has got real potential, he has pace and at this level certainly it is an asset and I hope he gets fixed up somewhere and does well. Nothing against the lad at all (apart from music tastes! )

Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

I really liked Leadbitter as a player and at quite a few stages last season, he was the only one even trying on the pitch. He was much better than Oastler last season and really gutted he won't be playing in a TUFC shirt this season.
