On the suspension front, does Rene still have matches of his most recent ban to serve?

I actually reckon this is a good move by Howe. Okay it took us all by surprise as Burton are a similar size club to ourselves, but their training facilities are the best in L2 by quite some distance, I'd imagine. Certainly about a zillion times better than Seale Hayne, unfortunately!

Might stick a couple of quid on Rene being the top scorer next season.

Having good training facilities doesn't have any bearing on how good your players are or what they do on the pitch though Nick but I agree that Burton have an excellent and progressive set up.
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

But having what Burton have available to them is certainly a huge advantage! It'd be great if TUFC had about 25 different surface pitches to choose from so we don't get affected during the winter months, for example!

I'm not disputing that Nick. I'm just going on what you said about Howe being prolific for them next season because of their training facilities and I don't think it has much of a bearing but it would be great for our players if we had what they did I agree. Perhaps psychologically the players may feel more 'at home' should we say if their training facilities are state of the art and aesthetically pleasing rather than a sh*tty field and getting changed in a portacabin and this might reflect a bit on the pitch in games but it's open to debate I suppose.

Well hopefully Seale Hayne will surpass Burton's facilities before too long.

I suspect that it will be quite a long time before Torquay have better training facilites than the brand new 120 million pound National Football Centre, but let's not rule it out.

So, it's not really Burton who have a decent training ground, it's the FA. Burton have a quirk of geography. Rene doesn't strike me as a guy who particularly gives a toss during training, thinking he is better than the division already, so why bother. Time will tell.

So Burton get to use the new England centre? I did not know that.

Howe will miss the first 2 games of the new season and, probably, a few after that as well.

I still can't believe he has ended up at Burton though, they are a progressive club but only on a miniscule scale and have no real league history, their fans are a sedate bunch, they won't repeat last seasons relative success again for a long time IMO which last season it was a real shock they got into the play offs. Maghoma and Zola have gone which eliminates their pace up top of which Howe has some but he's got the turning circle of the titanic. Have Burton got a large playing budget? I don't know the answer as i'm not that clever when it comes to the goings on regarding that side of things but I would think that Howe must have been offered a fair whack to have ended up there? They only get the same crowds as us so I don't see where the extra cash comes from unless the chairman pumps in the cash? They've signed Delap too who wouldn't be cheap.

£2000 per week, a £20k signing on bonus aswell as add ons for goals and things, so I believe.

Add to that the fact he's training at some of the best facilities in the country and it makes sense I guess.
