Or of course it could be down to boycotts and protests regarding the costs of staging the World Cup.........

I'm not sure that is at league games though Dave.
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

I watched a programme on some obscure channel where they suggested that's exactly what was happening.

It wasn't on Channel 5 was it?

I bow in deference to your superior knowledge Dave. I only suggested it was a reason for the increase in MLS attendances over Brazil and not that it WAS the reason but makes sense i suppose. I mean come on, the MLS is for pansies and players like Luke Rodgers!

Beckham would have also been part of any increase in the MLS, in my opinion.

This Falcao age situation could be interesting...

 at Monaco if it comes out that he is two years older than he says he is!

Good luck to the Bulls tonight as they take on Fenerbahce at the Arena in the Champions League first qualifying round. In true Austrian style we get as tough a team as you could get whilst Celtic get some Swedish plumbers. Typical.

We can beat them anyway! Come on you Bulls!!!

Raul Meireles with a 95th minute equalising penalty , tw*t. 1-1. Away leg to come, we're out - again.

sigh. You are an idiot. Andy :)

average attendance in MLS has steadily risen for about 10 years. it is now higher than both NBA and NHL (although in mitigation it must be said that both of those play a whole shedload of games). US fans 'having more money' is not a valid reason, however - MLS is still at that glorious stage where games are actually affordable, even if you're not earning a lot. Consider; Bristows Bench is currently £21. at current exchange rates that's about $33. single tickets for games at both New York and New England (closest to me) start at less than that; $25 and $20, respectively. If you also consider that for most games they have special offers ("get two tickets, two hot dogs and two scarves for $44") it's terrific value.

And yes, Luke Rodgers played for NY, but don't forget he was playing next to Thierry Henry. Anybody who says that MLS is a "terrible league" is either somebody who has never seen a game, somebody who expect every football match to be like the Champions League final, or somebody who is an idiot.

(Also, please learn when not to use the definite article. Unless you think Torquay play in the League Two)

Good news for Taffies everywhere! Now that UKIP have officially declared that Bongo Bongo Land does not really exist and is just a figure of speech, Wales have been moved up one place in the FIFA rankings ;-)

Not a chance! We'll fight them on the beaches, we'll..........oh wait, we don't have any beaches! :-/

Congrats to Austria Vienna for making into the CL group stages proper for the first time in a LONG time. Hopefully they'll get an English club in the group and I might be able to go and watch them and support Austrian football over here. I've not been to an English club v Austrian club game since I went to Villa Park to see Rapid Vienna knock out Villa 3 or 4 years ago in the Europa League.

In typical fashion none of the Austrian teams (Austria Vienna , Rapid Vienna or Salzburg ) were placed in groups with any English teams. Does the Europa League have 2 group stages or is it just the one and then onto knock out?

Stoke have just signed Austrian starlet Marko Arnautovic for 2 million. An absolute bargain that and if you thought Michu was the deal of the season last then watch this lad fly this season. Tricky, scores goals and just what Stoke need, i'm very excited to be seeing one of the stars of our national side in action on match of the day from now on.
