Team for Crawley

Post by Richinns »

I would be tempted to change our 4-4-1-1 and go for the (very popular at the moment!) 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 depending on how you view it.

-------------------------Bev-----------------------------

Robbo----------Ellis------------Branno------------Nico

----------Wroe--------Manse--------Oastler-----------

---O'Kane-----------------------------------------Zeb---
----------------------- Benners--------------------------

Crawley are a physical side and I think this would be the best way for us to win the key midfield battle.
I am also a very big admirer of Oastler and feel he is a better option than starting with Stevens.
Danny would be an excellent game effecting sub for this occasion.

Considering the battering Benners got last week I think I would rather put in Kee to bolster up the attack. I think if we fail to put away our chances AGAIN we will be punished by Crawley.

----------------------Bevan----------------------

Robbo-------Ellis--------Branston------Nico

Zeb---------Wroe---------Manse------Stevens

------------Benners----------Kee-----------------

Keep things simple and first and make judgements from there, I'd rather see 2 up front because we need to put away our chances in the first 70 mins, then when the inevitable Alamo happens in the last 20 mins, we have enough goals to still win!

How can you possibly leave O'Kane out the way he is playing?

4-3-1-2....that can be changed to 4-3-3 with okane swapping with zebs or 4-4-2 with okane moving to the wing.

Yay :( 4-5-1. Move any remotely talented players out wide and have as many defensive players in the middle as possible. All for a home cup game against Crawley. Bobbins.

Do it normal. 4-4-2. Same as last week. Same performance levels, just put the ball in the back of the bleedin' net ;-)

If things must change then lets make them attacking, lets show Crawley just how tough it will be next year if they are lucky enough to get promoted.

The personel virtually pick themselves. I just hope it's 4-4-2, not 4-5-1. We're at home, the onus is on us to attack. If we go to a replay i wouldn't fancy our chances. Lets go out to win it.

Bevs
Robbo Ellis Branno Nicho
O'Kane Manse Wroe Stevens
Benyon Zebs

Personally, i'd rather Zebs was out wide (in place of Stevens) with Kee up front. But i realise that isn't a popular viewpoint, and there's no chance Bucks will change a team that's performed well anyway.

4-3-3 with the ball, 4-5-1 without

Arsenal play it every week, Man Utd do in almost everyweek, as do Chelsea - regardless if they are home or away.

Gives the players (Zeb and O'Kane) greater freedom. Also takes the defensive shackles off Wroe.

I see no reason why this is negative, in fact the more I think about it, the more I like it.

Yes, 4-5-1 simply because of Okane and his form.

At least we'll be on the edge of our seat watching all those chances go begging.

I think swapping Stevens for Oastler is a negative move in itself – replacing an offensive player for a more defensive one from the outset.

As for the formation itself, if you ask any Man Utd fan they d tell you they play better, and look far more threatening when playing 4-4-2. The game against Blackpool the other night was proof of that, they started 4-3-3, were 2-0 down at half-time, changed to 4-4-2 and won 3-2.

Obviously it s not always that pronounced, but I think generally speaking any team that has 2 players up front pose more threat than a team with 1. Simplistic it might be, but it tends to work out that way.

Simply because of O'Kane's form? - where did you get that sh1t from?

Like I have said - more I think we are more likely to win the midfield with this formation. Match Crawley physically and do not let them bully us like they did with Swindon and Derby - stop Crawley playing. Free Wroe up to be a playmaker and more positive. Give Zeb and O'Kane more freedom to move and give defenders trying to pick them up headaches. Both can join Elliot and both can drop in when needed.

I think we should play to our strengths and let the opposition worry about us. If we focus on 'stopping them playing' our attacking impetus will be compromised. Unfortunately what tends to happen is that the wide-men get stifled - involved in a midfield battle, and the lone striker becomes isolated. Benyon needs help, it's a waste of his talents to be chasing defenders all over the pitch because he's the only yellow shirt in their half of the pitch.

Well regardless of who is right and wrong we all know Bucks will go 4-4-1-1, which neither viewpoint wants
