Guess Who?

Thought i'd start a new game whereby you have to try and guess who the person is that I am describing. I will start with one clue and then another each becoming more obvious as the quiz continues.

Here goes

I was born in 1929 and I am a DECEASED male tv presenter who has hosted a popular quiz show for many many years. Any guesses?

Bob Monkhouse is the only other one I can think of but he was born in 1928 as well. So was Holness as it turns out, vintage year obviously.
