Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

You know me well enough Andy to know my dogs (working line German Shepherds) are the loves of my life. I have two 2 year old females and a male just over 2 years old competing in Working Trials, the training takes me up to Staffordshire every fortnight and the events are literally nationwide. I now have Bear, son of Major and the process starts all over again. I bred 2 litters this year and out of 17 pups he was the standout one and has fitted in really well with the others.
I'll try and get a video up of some of the protection training we do, just need to find one that's suitable for family viewing

Oooh, could have been me Dave! I had an interview a few years back for South Yorkshire Police as a dog handler and carer (not for a copper, i don't have an ego so i wouldn't have fitted in and i'd much rather work with dogs anyway).
I've seen some of the protection training stuff. OUCH!

well, I have a dag, two cats, a hedgehog and a pair of bats.............
the dag is a bichon frise, Charlie - who thinks hes a dobermann............ =D
the cats are twins (they were the only ones in the litter) who we got from the RSPCA, Bart & Lisa. they are like chalk and cheese - Barts a champion murderer, Lisa prefers to sleep and look pretty...oh and she cant meow.....just squeeks..........
the hedgehog, timothy (who could be a lady) lives under next doors bushes and has a run between four gardens plus the brambles over the fence. also planning on building him/her a proper nest in the next few days for his/her hibernation.
the bats, David and Victoria, are really cool, they fly low between the houses and sh*t the kids up!

We get a lot of dogs from there to rehome, they don't have an animal shelter do they but I think they have local kennels, catteries and foster homes that hold them temporarily until they find homes and they have a network of contacts of people with dogs and cats to rehome I reckon they should build a small shelter in Barnsley after all Donny/Rotherham and Sheffield have got one.

One cat, Goldie, inherited when other halfs' mother decided to get a dog, which forced their two cats to cease returning home rather sharpish. We inherited the one who barely came home even for food. Wouldn't have one otherwise. She would have a dog, but as we both work it wouldn't be fair.

One cat (that's enough!), a 12 year old tabby called Clover.
As for unusual names, when I was a kid our cat (imaginatively named 'Tabby') got pregnant and the chief suspect for the father was a black and white cat a few doors along, called Honda. Lo and behold, out came 2 tabbies and 2 black and white kittens - we kept one of the black and white ones and in tribute to Dad I called her Moped. It wasn't until a few years after both Tabby and Moped had gone to the great cat basket in the sky that we found out that Honda was in fact a female....

My Dog - Frank
He is wicked and has the best character anyone could ever wish for in a pet.

This is a silly, silly thread. I like it.
This is my cat, Amber. She likes sleeping on my computer, purring, and licking her own ass - usually loudly and whenever I have people over. (She is also a real bitch when it comes to being in charge of the remote
)
She was rescued from a vet who took her in after she was abused as a kitten.

She is beautiful Happy. I like Frank as well Richinns but there is no denying that cats are cuter and funnier.

Right here goes, more silliness...
This is our female cat Holly from the UK, she came over with us on the plane Christmas 2004. She was just over a year old then and had lost her brother (Teasel) run over by a car 2 days before we flew. She takes life in her stride, catches the odd rodent or two, sleeps, eats and shits. For 2 years she had the company of a male kitten we got locally, he was as mad as nine pence and used all his 9 lives up in 2 years when something higher up the food chain, which lives in the woods out the back took him out.
5 years ago my oldest girl talked us into a dog. First go with dogs and to be honest he’s alright, ADHT like myself so it’s all good. \
Finn the Border Terrier cost a lorra lorra money from a breeder in Chicago, so much so I was hoping he wouldn’t shit – no luck there. Daughter now at Uni and we are looking after Finn. Great until you have him on a “Kenny Dog –leash†and another dog comes along and then he goes totally nonlinear.
The pair have become more tolerant of each other but we do get the odd chase around the house, usually ending up with the cat swiping the dog and jumping up onto a high cupboard

Nonsense. Men who own cats are obviously discerning, perceptive, caring, and too busy (or in my case lazy) to take dogs for walks every day.
Cats make purrfect pets. They keep themselves clean, they don't bark, they're independent yet always affectionate (especially when they're hungry); if you don't starve them they do not kill birds - though mine once brought a live fledgling home to play with as it was feeling lonely, a good reason to have two cats instead of one. And, unlike dogs, they do not jump up at you to deposit saliva all over your face - though my cat does give me a lick on my face to wake me up every morning.
If I didn't have a cat, for me it would be, well, catastrophic..
