Devon FC?
I had a thought the other day, considering Devon has a population of 1.1 million (aprox), there are many countries competing to qualify for the world cup with fewer inhabitants than us as a county, like Montenegro for example. How would a squad of players born in Devon fare as a team?
I will have most probably forgotten a few, but these are the players to mind that would be eligible to play for this team, and are half decent.
Goalkeepers
Martin Rice
Defenders
Ben Tozer
Dean Moxey
Gary Sawyer
George Friend
Sean Morrison
Craig Woodman
Steve Tully
Midfielders
Paul Wotton
Liam Sercombe
Andy King
Dan Gosling
Luke Guttridge
Luke Summerfield
Strikers
Ashley Yeoman
Tyler Harvey
Unfortunately we may have to play with 1 up front...
If anyone else has any other players eligible that they know of, chip in.

...........and no sub 'keeper!

Not being from Devon I don't really know which players past and present would qualify DY sorry pal.
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

don't forget that all of the FIFA/UEFA rules allow you to qualify for a 'nation' through stuff like parents and grandparents.
This is how Jack Charlton's Eire team had such luminaries as Andy Townsend and Tony Cascarino, despite their only affection for Ireland being a pint of Guinness every now and then.
So a Devon team could be a lot better!

Is Tyler Harvey (Argyle) not a local lad?

The geezer from Brixham is indeed in there, Gosling. Probably the best player in fact.
Good shout on Harvey, I'll put him in.
Yes, I think if you play for a club before for 3 years before you're 21 then that means you're eligible. Who would that include that is any decent?

Gosling, that's him, I couldn't remember his name, so I didn't see he was already on the list. Do any of our kids count? Ed Palmer or Saul Halpin, are they eligible? What about SG as reserve goalie?

Yeah only current players.
I believe Saul is Cornish and Ed Palmer is from London.

Born in Plymouth. Capped for Thailand (once). Goalkeeper. Not played for a team since 2009, although nothing says that he has retired at all.

Quite surprised at the lack of Devonian strikers currently.
In the past you could have had the likes of Cliff Bastin,Colin Lee,Fred Binney,Adam Stansfield,Mickey Evans,Tommy Northcott,Trevor Francis, and Mark Loram.
