Lottery price

Post by AustrianAndyGull »

The Lotto has now gone up from £1 to £2 and all I ask is why?

I hope they can make up the shortfall in loss of players with the extra £1 they will be making because I for one won't be bothering anymore.

If they insist on putting it up then why not £1.50? Another rip off.
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

I've always looked at the lottery as a kind of voluntary taxation. I therefore decline to pay until I get a red letter telling me I owe them money :)

I don't understand the hate towards lotteries. Sure, you've about as much chance as winning as I do of convincing Mila Kunis and Jennifer Lawrence to wrestle naked in a vat of banana yoghurt, get out, and give me a spoon, but that's the point; you're not buying a realistic shot of winning, you're buying the day or two of whistful dreaming about what you would do with the cash. Buy Torquay United, have a round the world trip, (maybe call a couple actresses about a casting call in the next Danone commercial...)

Like any gambling, as long as you can afford to lose the 2 quid or whatever, I don't see the damage. Of course, there are people who can't handle that and end up spending all their money, but the same is true of betting on the horses, or the football, or even of going shopping; taken to excess most things can be damaging.

Mind you I don't like Yoghurt and especialy wouldn't like it if they farted in it. as they are most likely to do.

Happy you are right in essence but I guess i'm paying for my own stupidity once again. I've had the same set of numbers since the thing started and so i'm kind of stuck in a trap. I will pay the £2 (if I didn't have these numbers then I would just stop doing it altogether ). If my numbers came out, which is never going to happen but if they did and I had stopped doing it then i'd be suicidal for a number of months.

I've played since it started as well but I do it online and have forgotten most of my numbers over time (the only ones I remember are 6 and 21, which is my birthday) so I'm not doing it once the price goes up. I do Thunderball as well and get quite a few small wins from that so I'll carry on playing that. That said I got 5 numbers on Lotto about 10 years ago and won nearly two grand so I haven't done too badly! :)
