1.2 million. Not proven at that level no, but I do think we got ripped off considering that £2,000,000+ fee that was originally being touted.

So L1-Champ is a rip off at £1,200,000, yet L2-L1 and £75,000 is good value?

You got 'ripped off' for £1.2m for Austin, yet think a fair fee for Benyon is less than £100k?

You're one division above us, and might not be for much longer. Austin is not worth 7 figures more than Benyon.

I'm pretty sure our Board will be holding out for £200k.

Your Board can afford it and we won't allow ourselves to be ripped off, which at anything less than £200k we would be.

Anything under six figures would be very disappointing.

£150,000 I think is the least we should be looking for.

Andy Carroll is worth £35m, apparently, and there's no way he's worth 450+ times more than Benyon.

That said, I think the board probably wouldn't want to risk the 'lottery' of a tribunal so would probably settle for £150k, like others have said.

How about this scenario
Elliot stays till end of season
Refuses new contract
Talks to new club and agrees terms
Waits until 30th august and signs for them--with a nice signing on fee
Torquay end up with nowt

That would just about sum up Torquay

I don't think we can blame the club if that happens to be honest, but it os typical of the way our luck goes.

Wouldn't we still be entitled to a fee though because of his age?

Benners is under 24 as at 30/6/11 and so provided we offer him a new contract (on at least existing terms) then we are entitled to compo (via a tribunal if a fee cannot be agreed) regardless of whether he signs that contract offer, or not.

Ok, news on Benyon.

Three clubs are bidding for him as we speak.

Good, a bidding war would be nice. Even if he doesn't go, it'll be fodder for a tribunal.
