App recommendations

Post by ferrarilover »

This thread will enrage Andy and Emet, but I thought I'd make one dedicated to smartphone app recommendations.

I seem to always be behind the curve in terms of the best apps, so I thought I'd ask you good people for the heads up.

For my part, I'd recommend Hill Climb Racing. It's a daft game, but well conceived, regularly updated and is useful for killing some time. It doesn't require Internet connection, so is also useful for playing in the car on the way to games when there's no 3G (or H+) available.

My only proviso to this thread would be that, when recommending an app, if you could state both the platform (Android or App Store) and give a brief description of the image, to make sure we're all downloading the same thing.

Matt.

Not at all Matt. If you want to post an app thread than that's perfectly ok with me. :na:

It's a shame they don't do one for 80's spectrum games like Horace and the Spiders, Horace goes Skiing, Hungry Horace, Manic Miner, Jet Set Willy etc, that would be superb! :-D
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

You should all get "the Football App" - brilliant for when you are at work / can't make a game. Set your team(s) and you get in-app alert notifications for kick off / goals / full time / etc.

Premiership teams are pretty much instant alerts and our league is give or take 2-5mins delayed. To be expected. Great app though.

Download 'Marvin - ZX Spectrum Emulator' for android (it's in the Play store). The emulator links to 'world of spectrum' where you can download any game you would care to think of for free. I've played most of the games you mentioned in your post.

Use a Wii controller rather than the Kempston joystick on the screen. It even loads the games with the blue and yellow lines. No tapes though thankfully. .....
Mmmmmm, beeeeeeeer.

Football Chairman Lite (Available for Apple and Android)

http://www.football-chairman.com/

Very addictive and took me to 2045 (in game years) to win the Premier League with Torbay United (after starting with a attendance of 111!) but I got there in the end!!

I have NES Emu and SuperGNES for my Ouya. They're both also available for regular android. I like them on the Ouya because I can use the controller.
So now I have every NES game ever made at my disposal (there are only about 750 of them), plus which ROM i feel like getting for the Super Nintendo.

Brilliant.
