right chaps and chapettes, can you please enlighten me as to what a group job interview is, and what to expect and also tell me some hints, tips and tricks to do to ace it?
its been years since i had a job interview and ive probably never had a real proper formal one!
i have checked it out with the help of my good friends at google and got a few ideas, but i thought it might be good to get an idea from some real people.

Depends who the interview is with. It is likely you will paired with some one and have to learn about them, and then stand up in front of the group tell them about the person your paired with.
You could be asked to learn and perform a magic trick in front of the group.
if it was me in front of a panel of interviewers or something i could probably handle it and maybe even knock it outta the park.
if it was in a roomful of people and doing team stuff or a stand up and talk b0ll0cks, likewise, but in little groups or doing daft stuff i dont know if i could pull it off.

i've got new shoes, shirt, tie, trousers, jumper and haircut!
but i still look like a fat sack of sh1t!
if it goes on capability to do the job, personality and being qualified it will be fine, but people look at your weight and judge, so im probably stuffed.

It is hard to say, again it depends on the company, ASDA are the only ones I know that use group interviews, think Nortel did as well, pretty sure it's a yank thing.
its to work for a big, national, very good, very professional looking, non profit, registered charity, social/shared/care/ housing company, at a plush, brand new, massive, supported living place.
its a tough one to judge, hundreds might have applied or only 4 or 5, i have no idea, depends on how many people actually want that kind of job or if many are suited to it.

I know the people involved Chunky and they will be pretty open minded about who they select-looks and appearance much less important than being able to emphathise with the client group(mostly older frail people). If you've got a decent track record in a "caring" profession you will likely have what it takes.
Decent company/charity to work for.

im a bag of nerves and brickin' it right now. im watching only fools and horses jolly boys outing to settle the nerves.
i always watch that in situations like this, before i have had job interviews etc, i watched it before i took my driving test many years ago and passed so its kind of a good luck/superstition thing.

Group Job interviews are a real laugh....for those conducting the interview. It's generally an excuse to take the piss out of the interviewees. The Curry's staff are still killing themselves laughing about this one from last month.
in a big group and even split into little groups it is just so hard to show or tell what you can do, you have no real chance to shine.
everything went so fast and when i got an individual moment to speak and explain why i wanted the job im sure i said the wrong thing, spoke too fast, flapped my hands about too much and sounded like a stuttering, babbling, gibbering wreck! :Oops:
even my handwriting went more crap than usual today. :-|

I got my job from an initial group interview (then invited to individual interviews.)
I just oozed positivity, took control of other applicants to assert my leadership skills and decision making abilities and asked strong questions to show I wasn't a know-it-all. Must have worked as I got the job!
The bit between interview and hearing back is the worst, so remain positive chunky, I'm sure everyone in attendance feels the same as you, think positively and you'll be back to work in no time. Good luck - let us know how you get on!
i realise i am lucky, i am very grateful, i do already have a job which i absolutely love and i am not desperate to leave it or anything like that. it is great to have options.
this job i went for is similar in lots of ways but a step up and a great opportunity. its just that i have had my eye on it since the place in question was first being built a year ago. i know i can do it.
it just felt like i had done my research on the job, the company and what a group interview entailed, i had it all planned, i did try and assert myself in the group discussions and exercises, i put a fair bit of input into a part where we had to come up with a plan of action, but i felt it wasnt noticed and my input was lost.
we shall see.
