But when those players were playing we ...err...weren't winning, so strengthen the team they might but to a level that is anywhere near good enough, well, who can tell. The portents do not especially look promising.
This is where you really look stupid. The spine is usually thought of as your central players..well, let's see...Rice? Poke...if he ever comes back..we could be relegated by the time the spine is in place...Pearce - yes, he is decent, and so is Downes but again, how long will he be out. And that's about it. If you are attempting to suggest that Harding, Mozika, Benyon are going to beef up this spine into something 'decent', then ...stupid time again.

You have not come to the conclusion he is a bad appointment yet? What bit about 3rd from bottom, cannot win, cannot score, could be bottom by Saturday don't you get? The stupid fans are those simply 'hoping' it will all come good, kidding themselves that the likes Mozika and Benyon coming into the team with a load of loanee strangers is going to see us pulling clear of relegation. You stick your head in the sand...although saying that, it is probably better than where you normally stick it.

Add just for example Azeez and Chappel out wide and that side is not one I would expect to be in a relegation spot come the end of the season.

Fl - your post is just daft. "Tiny margins" - we cannot buy a win. In the rare event we score two, the opposition score three. If we keep a clean sheet - we don't score. In nearly every case the oppostion outscore us.
Its not nothing to do with Nathan Craig whether we win or lose but lets use him as an example. Consider his free kick in injury time against Mansfield. Blasting the ball over the cross bar from a crossing position on the edge of the box was just a ludicrous waste. That was a decent scoring opportunity which could have bought us three points if delivered correctly.
Yet what happens last night - he repeated the dose and did exactly the same thing. He isn't exactly endearing himself to the manager is he?
Lets take the case of M1 McCallum who was bought on as an early sub last night after rocking up not even knowing the names of the players.
It now transpires that he had played a full ninety minutes the day before.
The decision to bring him on last night was therefore nothing short of disgraceful. Its a decision which shows the manager up to be a complete fool or one that has seriously lost the plot. It is akin to Shaun Taylors management during the Aldershot game last season.
What sort of message does that send out to Benyon for example - no wonder morale is at an all time low.
Is Knill seeing to Hawleys wife or something - how many non pefromances can a player make without getting dropped?

Yes - I know what you are trying to say but if you are suggesting that the spine of a team with the slow, easily pushed off the ball Benyon up front, injury prone Mozika and anonymous Harding in midfield and Poke - who, well, if he ever plays - is a decent spine - just laughable. I respect most of your postings - don't always agree with them, but they're usually reasoned. However, posts such as above reflect more on you than whoever you're insulting, I would suggest.

Matt - your lengthy post has got more holes in it than my moth eaten jumper. I can't be bothered to go through them all. In any case, Brucie has picked off a few. Julian Gaunt is actually quite a knowledgeable commentator and in fact it wasn't Julian Gaunt criticising the team and Alan Knill so much as Steve Breed who try as he might, as a true Gulls fan, he couldn't hide his frustration at what he was watching. According to the radio report and EVERY posting from fans who were at the match, it wasn't heading for a 0 - 0 draw before the first goal - we were being comprehensively outplayed. You conveniently forgot they also hit the post in the first half and Rice brought off a couple of very good saves whereas their keeper wasn't seriously tested all night. I agree with you that there are players at the club who are capable of getting us out of this mess, but it remains to be seen if Knill can organise and motivate them. Make no mistake, Matt - for whatever reason, we are a shambles and in trouble. Looking at our fixtures, barring postponements, our 24th match is Argyle away on January 1st. I suggest that if we're still amongst the stragglers at that stage, the Board will have some serious thinking to do. Like you, I hope (but am not as confident as you) that we will have moved up the league by then.

For those who bleat 'look at the injuries we've had to contend with'. I bet every club in the league has had to contend with injuries or suspensions at some stage. Downes being out has been a huge setback but to give Knill some credit, he acted swiftly by bringing in a good loan replacement, Anthony O'Connor. Pearce missed just two games through injury. Poke's injury was a blow but let's not take anything from Martin Rice - none of the results would have been different had Poke been playing in my opinion. And then there's Harding ....... now come on - has he been missed ??

Tomo, I'm really not bothered how I come across on a football site, if a fool spouts nonsense like Badcott does on a regular basis then he is hardly deserving of any "respect" when compounding it by calling for a managers head before we've even played 10 league games. I would agree with you that if we are in this position come the beginning of January then serious decisions need making but that is over 2 months away and there's a lot of football to be played between now and then. This clamouring for a managers head so soon is what is wrong with football these days, it is sheer lunacy.

I don't know his reasoning for doing so, maybe if I did I'd be able to answer the question with some kind of accuracy. I wouldn't comment on a players performance unless I'd seen it myself so maybe others can answer you.

You could defend it Dave by pointing out that McCallum did not play 90 minutes the night before. He came on as substitute in the 90th minute. Subtle difference! My source of information is on a par with supergulls!
