Mexico have been poor for most of the final stage of qualification. Coming into the last game, they needed to either beat Costa Rica, or hope that Panama lost, to ensure that they continued their record of qualifying for every World Cup they were eligible for since 1986. (although they were banned from 1990 version)

They lost 2-1 to Costa Rica.

Going into injury time, Panama were 2-1 up against already qualified USA. Somehow, the USA scored twice in the 3 minutes of stoppage time, put the Panamanians out and saving Mexico.
This broke my heart.

I always find more interest in the nations potentially qualifying for their first ever WC, and I had high hopes for Panama. After they lost in the Azteca I thought it was over for them, but to get so close must be devestating for them.

Venezuela let me down as well, so that leaves Iceland, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia and Jordan to cheer on!

Just as dangerous, the high hotel costs and match ticket prices can kill your finances. You have been warned..
I wish you hadn't mentioned this horrible creature. I made the mistake of finding out about it. It is really unpleasant, put me right off going to Brazil (even if I could afford it, which I can't). It is aggressive and jumps at people, and can easily kill. It is like a Millwall supporter with poisonous fangs.

Not so much related to anything I've seen in here recently but while I was bored on youtube earlier looking at TUFC videos, this one came up.

Great little video showing the rise of a club similar to our own, though that Scott Davies goal at Plainmoor still hurts a bit!

Red Bulls Senegalese striker Sadio Mane gets a hat rick today away at Grodig to put us 10 points clear after just 13 rounds. Ain't no-one gonna catch us this season!
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

See Roma have a 100% record in Serie A after 9 games, bloody impressive that!

Also saw that Bale had a shocker in El Clasico at the weekend as Barca won 2-1 thanks to a sweet finish by Alexis Sanchez! Recommend a look.

Bale worth 80m whilst Suarez worth 40m? It's hilarious.

Also in Red Bulls news - New York won the MLS Supporters' Shield (given to the team with the best regular season record); their first trophy in 18 years. There were the last of the original MLS teams to win anything. The beat Chicago 5-2 at home to win. Some good goals, too - especially Henry's. He's still got it.

Michael Bradley scoring; good - the US national team need to have him healthy if they're to do anything in Brazil.

Roma have only conceded one goal in those nine games as well.

Real were truly shafted by North London this summer. Bale is surely the most over-hyped player of all time, cost twice as much as Ozil but is half as talented.

Very impressive run! Surprised to see the two Milan clubs struggling too!

Also, I caught the highlights of Dortmund's win over Schalke and wow, they were quite relentless! 3-1 winners but all three goals were excellent, and all very different too. Would love to see them pip Bayern to the Bundesliga title this season.

German football is quality and I love the fans. Crazy and colourful.

Indeed! Love watching the highlights every week now, so much more exciting than the Premiership, on and off the field!

Sometimes called the Banana spider because many are found in bunches of the fruit (as in Sainsburys recently: http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/weird-news ... ys-2674294). Can grow up to five inches across, and is responsible for more deaths than any other spider in the world.
