LOL @ having a debate over our keepers. We could have Neuer in goal we'd still be bottom of the league. Can only do so much and the hopeless, gutless cretins in front of our goalkeeper are the ones you should be having a go at not the by far and away player of the season.

If you were buying a car and the salesman showed you two cars identical, but one had a slight blemish you would be more likely to buy the best one. I am not having a go at Rice but Poke would improve the hopeless, gutless cretins in front of him in your words. The manager is responsible as well as his tactics have been the downfall of the team. :-|royalgull wrote:LOL @ having a debate over our keepers. Interesting that now Knill is clearly here for the unforseeable future seems the focus for our demise is on a number of, so far, unnamed outfield players, according to recent postings.
For us to get out of the bottom two we need to find promotion form and, as a previous manager kept telling us, 'the answer lies in the building'. We have to get behind all the squad and with 81 points to play for they need our support.
For me I agree with David Thomas, our season will be defined over the coming five games.

No, the focus is still well and truly on Knill. The reason why all of our outfield players have been so rubbish all season is partly due to them of course but they are being coached and managed by Knill to fit into Knill's system (whatever THAT is!) and so in my mind I more or less blame Knill for our demise. We've had this debate before and many won't agree but at Scunthorpe I just felt total sympathy with the players out on the pitch because it was just one shocker too far and they really didn't know what to do. They were looking for a leader to change things around, motivation from the touchline, guidance from the gaffer. They got Knill. Our players aren't all crap but they look like conference south standard most weeks. There must be a reason for ALL of them being like this? If it was one or two you could point the finger and accuse them of not trying, not putting it in etc etc etc but as it is an ENTIRE team of players that have no idea where to turn on the pitch then I'd be inclined to look at the boss for the reason why.nickbrod wrote:Interesting that now Knill is clearly here for the unforseeable future seems the focus for our demise is on a number of, so far, unnamed outfield players, according to recent postings.

Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

All Alan has to do on Saturday is instill belief, without it we will continue to struggle. At Bury we should have lost but didn't, we coped really well in atrocious conditions and really dug in there for a gritty win and I thought that would be the catalyst for a good solid run despite us being outplayed for large parts by a side knocked out of the cup by non league opposition and who are just as bad as us. It led to more rubbish and losses and the man responsible for building on that and using that tiny bit of fragile belief garnered from Gigg Lane to propel us forward failed spectacularly once again. If you all think Bodin is a great player but thrives on confidence and belief which many of you do then surely this applies to the rest of our squad if we are to be fair about it yes? So therefore it is not the players fault that they are playing rubbish by this example because they have no confidence or belief like Billy. Who is responsible for injecting this into the players then? It's Mr Knill.
When you are at the bottom you have to maximise every positive performance and result gained and it is quite clear that Alan isn't able to do this. Incidentally, what is Brassy's role in all this? Does he just sit around on the touchline too or is he animate? What does Chris do exactly?

But can anyone actually point out these goals that we've conceded for having Rice rather than Poke? Dave said they exist, but no one has actually evidenced it yet. I've got all the FLSs on my Sky Plus (it's not deliberate, I'm just enormously forgetful), so pick me a game and a goal and we'll have a look.
Matt.

Can't be bothered to trawl back through threads but there was one game Rice should have done better with two goals and comments were made. Possibly, York at home.ferrarilover wrote:But can anyone actually point out these goals that we've conceded for having Rice rather than Poke? Probably our biggest game of the season. I was up for going to this one because it really is a must win game. Lose this one and we will be cut well and truly adrift. However I cannot face the round trip with Knill still in charge.
We shouldn't be quaking in our boots over playing Southend. If you look through our squad we shouldn't be doing as badly as we are with the players that we have got so the blame falls firmly at the feet of the manager.
The debate over Poke or Rice goes on but really Knill has to try something different because what he has been trying isn't working - we are leaking goals like they are going out of fashion.
Knill should bring back Pearce at centre half and Poke in goal - tough on Rice but Poke is a better keeper.
O'Connor apparently isn't a full back but played 50 games there for Burton and plays in that position for the Irish team. He is twice as quick as Tonge and needs to be given a go there. Pearce is too good a player to be left out as is Poke and O'Connor is better than Tonge, simple as that.
