The other thing. It's not as if the club told everyone the day before the game it was to be all ticket. Everyone knew well in advance so plans could be made to purchase them.
I think the issue is whether or not the game should have been all ticket in the first place because there certainly isn't a problem with getting access to tickets. Perhaps that should be looked into and I don't know the ins and outs of why it was made all ticket. But like I said, in terms of getting a ticket - piece of p*ss. :~D

Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

We're a friendly club. What's wrong with letting anyone in anywhere..?? Should not be too difficult for the crowd to police the small minority of unruly youngsters. Otherwise, how will they ever evolve beyond the state of savages..??Gulliball wrote:I believe it was April 27th, when there was a week full of threads asking why the Club allowed away fans in the home ends. If Exeter have sold out then you can't sell them on the day or it defeats the whole point. You either have it all ticket and lose a few hundred off the gate or pay on the gate and let anyone in anywhere. The only constant theme seems to be the Club taking stick whatever they decide.

Back in October (it may be before that, but I can't find any earlier mentions on the site) the club informed everybody of the five matches that would be all ticket.
They gave a rather detailed explanation as to why there was that stipulation too.
So, supporters have had at least two months to get their ticket sorted for the match - that's TWO MONTHS to either click here: http://tu1.glitnirticketing.com/tuticke ... v_list.php , email [email protected] or call the usual switchboard number and order from there.
It really is that simple.
I'm sure that the club would have been slated either way and, to be honest, I don't know why I'm even arguing the point because everybody moaning about it is just going to carry on doing so - so I'm not going to mention another word about it (unless somebody responds to me directly on the thread, in which case I reserve the right to reply).

There was plenty enough bitching about the Rovers fans sat in the bench last season and they wernt youngsters.Gullscorer wrote: We're a friendly club. What's wrong with letting anyone in anywhere..?? ive got my ticket and always do get them as its easy for me living local, i was just commenting on how the club could maybe make its easier for people to turn up on match day and get a ticket, i understand all the arguments here and yes scott i understand it wouldnt be all ticket if we sold on the day would it.
but surely for the people who want to turn up on the day, maybe they could still sell online up until say 11am.
or maybe its just a case of the south devon public being more intrested in tv footie.

I just think people are moaning at the wrong people (ie the club). If fans are angry that 2,3 4 grand maybe in lost ticket sales are being lost and the anger is because of the lost income then why would you moan? The 4 grand or whatever it is will only pay Hawley for a month and he's sat on his arse doing sod all having scored 2 all season.

Scott (and Andy) it really is not that simple. Obviously it's simple and fine for regular supporters who know in advance that they are able to get to the game and are determined to attend come what may. But for those supporters who, for perfectly legitimate reasons, are unable to plan ahead in this way, and for those casual members of the public and holidaymakers in the Christmas period who may wish to go to the game but have not had the opportunity to buy tickets in advance, the all-ticket system as presently set up is useless, and the club is missing much-needed revenue as a result. And, as has already been said, with modern technology there is no reason why last-minute sales of tickets should not be allowed.
But it also misses the point relating to the more general principle involved which is that, with a ground capacity of 6283 and the last all-ticket game producing an attendance of 3461 with no crowd trouble, the club should be carefully considering whether there is any real necessity for so many of these games to be all-ticket. Seems to be a blunt weapon for tackling a non-existent threat..

A very difficult decision that the club has to make. I do think that tickets should be able to be sold on the day, we wont sell out which is disappointing, so getting those last few tickets sold should be done. A lot of fans don't have season tickets, a lot of fans (like myself) may bring a mate with them for a derby game, a lot of fans don't want to feel obliged to go buying tickets in advance and just want to make a decision to go to the football on the day. This is how the club is losing out. The opinion against this, is the fear of Exeter fans maybe purchasing home tickets, I'm not sure if they have sold their allocation out and the club pays money for the police for a reason, any trouble (which their usually isn't) will be dealt with.

The thread last April about those Rovers fans dealt with that topic: http://forum.torquayfans.com/viewtopic. ... 5&start=30 .Sunnysideup wrote: There was plenty enough bitching about the Rovers fans sat in the bench last season and they wernt youngsters.

And your point is? Was there bitching at the game and on here on not? (And yes, there was bitching at the game as it was just in front of me)Gullscorer wrote:The thread last April about those Rovers fans dealt with that topic: http://forum.torquayfans.com/viewtopic. ... 5&start=30 .
No it isnt, the point of an all ticket game is NO TICKETS SALES ON THE DAY OF THE MATCH to avoid segregation problems.the all-ticket system as presently set up is useless, and the club is missing much-needed revenue as a result. And, as has already been said, with modern technology there is no reason why last-minute sales of tickets should not be allowed
The system works fine for that, you can go online tomorrow evening and buy tickets for collection before the match. If you're cant decide by then (less than 24 hours before) if you want to go or not, thats your problem you dolt. Stop bleating about the club when they try and make it easy for people to get a ticket if its not convenient to get to the ground when the office is open.
The problem isnt the club and the ticketing system. Ive used it and its easy enough and straightforward to use.

Neither does it alter the fact that the club advertised that they were selling tickets over the phone today but noone answered.
That is inexcusable, poor public relations, and gives the impression that the club do not care about the fans.
Also there appears to be a surcharge for using the online booking - I paid £23 each for two tickets over the phone (20 minute wait before someone answered) for the Bristol game.
Yet paid £2 extra booking online for the Exeter game (35 minute wait on the phone - noone answered).
Exeter were offering a £3 fdiiscount over two games for using their online facility.
As Scott doesn't go to matches his opinion doesn't really count for much on this one either.
Not all supporters know in advance whether they can attend games for many varying reasons.
There is precisely knack all to do this Sunday - we should be able to get 5000 easy.
We won't get anywhere near that and someone somewhere needs to take a long hard look at themselves.
I mean Torquay v Newport all ticket? - someone has got this all wrong.

I don't understand why Newport is all ticket, Bristol/Exeter over the Christmas period - yes.
Plymouth on a Tuesday night also a no.
But as others as suggested, there's been 2 months to try and plan for the 2 Xmas games,

Just out of interest what would happen say if the games were just made all ticket for away fans only and home fans could pay on the day? I appreciate some away fans would turn up in the home ends but at least we'd get more cash from them PLUS our fans would also be able to pay on the day pleasing everyone I would assume? If individuals or small groups of away fans were being 'a bit loud' in the home ends then what action would be taken or would nothing be done and fans around them would start to get annoyed? Just a theory as it does seem that trouble is not prevalent at Plainmoor in the main.
