An Opposition View: Match Report

Post by WombleCharlie »

And here's a review. Apologies if it's a little biased, I'm not in the best of moods right now!

Torquay didn't cross the halfway line for the whole of the second half, but we were unable to turn our possession into chances,

we didn't cross your halfway line in second half are you sure about that?

Well to be fair he did say it was biased, Torquay according to the stats had 2 corners in the second half, wink, wink.

Absolute rubbish, wasn't there, but.......Over the 90 minutes the stats showed 50/50 possession, 9 shots each, of which they had 2 on target and we had 5 on target. Hardly the one way traffic he suggests

Under the cosh in the second half but only to be expected. Would have been the same if the situation had been reversed. Actually we had our only corners after half-time. Whilst Wimbledon huffed and puffed we held out and won 2-0 surely that tells you all you need to know!

Ha ha - a laughable report. What is quite amusing is the tone of the report that "Wimbledon should be able to beat the likes of Torquay" - actuallly you are only five points in front of us!

I'm only glad we were able to beat a team as great as this Wimbledon one. I wasn't there, but a neutral reading that match report would think the protagonists were divisions apart.

Bless little Torquay for being massively fortunate and beating such a great Wimbledon team.

Sorry if it came across that way. I don't claim to be even vaguely impartial, but there was no intent to make it sound like we have some divine right to win! My point was that had we played like we have in recent weeks we probably would've won. You deserved your win today, we were absolute shite.

Might be worth writing the reports at 10pm, rather than immediately after the game to help with the blood pressure and to reflect for a few hours. It sounded as if you were on top at the end, the rest of the game sounded how the stats suggest.

The second half felt massively one-sided to me - but I'm hardly the most reliable source!

By the qoute that our Full back didn't have an answer to KLC. I assume you mean our full Back Kevin Nicholson. And your pretty nippy winger Sainte Luc.
The one same winger who right in front of me faked a foul and dived getting Kev booked in the process. Now if a player is going to make it look like he has been fouled, would it not be a good idea to make sure he fell as or after he passed out player. No . He started his dive just before he reached Kevin. And conned to Linesman and Deanman who is well known for being a t**t.
Kevin never touched him. That is why our fans yelled Cheat Cheat Cheat at him for the rest of the game. he knew what he had done. Now if you had picked on our other players who got yellow I would have let it go.
But he never did anything else after. all and every ball he challenged for with Nicho was lost as Nicho cleared it each and every time. The Sainte Luc only beat two of our other players. But he never got past Nicho. NEVER!
having said that. I think he will be a handfull for most teams in this league. But wonder if he may turn out like so many and be mercenary looking for the money all the time. He looked like a few players I have seen in my many years of watching the beautiful game. all who seemed to have attitude problems when they don't get their own way. we have had a few. Hope he doesn't though. it would be such a waste.
As for us never crossing the half way line in the second half. I assume you must have left for lunch at half time. We were almost camped in your half at times. Although I suppose you don't count our corners or the free kicks. or the 4 times we were pulled up for offside. or the shots over near or wide of your goal.
By the way. Your tip for fat boys cafe. Spot on there. we had a good lunch and chat with some of your fans.
Prices were very cheap considering it was London and on par with cheap cafes in Gloucestershire or Devon. They won't half miss you lot if you move. Good luck on the new stadium too.
I will forgive your morose condition as it was probably due to an oncoming hangover which will happen as you drown your sorrows tonight. But don't forget. Tomorrow is another day and you will get up and forget today. Well untill your head reminds you.
Good luck for the rest of the season and hope you stay up. We like you really. great fans and nice homely atmosphere.
By the way. That badge man. he is good isn't he.Got a specail badge done just for today. nicely produced too.

In terms of possession, it was one sided. Thing is, you didn't do a damn thing with it. Your one and only plan was to get it to the black kid on the wing then hope that he could either beat his man or fall over convincingly. He did the former not at all and did the latter just the once. Midson didn't have a single shot all day and Pokey didn't make a save of note. That's what's cost you today.

Still a delightful club. Accommodating, sensible stewarding to open the extra space; perfectly decent fans to mingle with before and after the match. Thanks to all at AFCW.

Matt.
