Moneybags Mansfield

Post by ferrarilover »

Apparently, their bonkers Chairman pumps £100,000/month into the club. That's £1.2m/year, or 20% more than the Board paid for our whole club back whenever.

What the hell do they do with it? They're getting 3500/week through the gates, they must have the same income streams that we have (minus the big screen, of course), so they are getting one hundred large a month to blow on coke and hookers and they're still producing the football which, in my experience at least, is the worst I've ever come across in the Football League.

How do these clubs do it? How do they have so much money and manage to do so little with any of it? Plymouth, Rovers, Northants, Mansfield, Exeter, just a massive list of extremely wealthy (or, in Exeter's case, persistently lucky) clubs who manage to be absolutely no better than us and Accrington who bump along on 50p/week.

I really hope we get £500,000 from the Eunan deal. We'd walk this division, surely, given our obvious comparative ability to spend money extremely wisely.

Matt.

Your figures are way out. The price for our Club was way less than you're assuming.

To be honest, I plucked a number out of my arse. I had intended for my post to reflect that. Reading it back, that isn't the case.

Regardless, where does the money go?

To be fair, having read the article it looks like most of the money is paying debt and legal bills from the previous owners.

Following the chain of articles, it seems the debt isn't being paid and the legal action only began in mid-January. The tone of the latest article suggests that the payments have been going on much longer than that.

So, if not on repaying debt, where the hell does it go?

25 man squad on four grand a month over and above what they'd earn at a club with 3500 crowds. Taking our lot as a baseline, they'd be on over £6000/week. Bearing in mind that the spread wouldn't be even among the players, who the hell at Mansfield Town takes home £520,000/year?
