Just hope CH and co. will turn up with a performance on Saturday.
Is it just me but this year we seem to be playing these teams when they are in a run of form?

Yeah I agree, Accrington no wins for their first 11 games then as soon as they start winning we play them, Cobblers obviously Wilder in charge as opposed to managerless a month ago, when we lost 1-0 against Oxford a couple of weeks ago, that's now part of their 9 game unbeaten streak, the list goes on :-/

So, the result today at Chesterfield not what we wanted so on a negative note let's all go to Plainmoor Saturday and have a good old moan, can't score, can't pass, look busy, why do we all bother, but we do because we love the club.
Could you wear a yellow Pringle jumper so that we can spot you on Saturday welcome. :~D

Yes as someone pointed out above this is a very hard 6 pointer of a game. Accrington Stanley are in very good form (their league position doesn't tell you how they have turned things around). For a team that didn't win for 12 games their last 18 matches show very good form (won 8, drew 6 lost 4).

This is a must win game as we need to not lose pace with the others above us.

Heart says Torquay win, mind says a Accrington win. I'll take a point now.

Accy had a player sent off last night early in the game against Bury,so did well to get a draw.
Only 2,184 there for a match against a team a few miles away.

From a little way away, the weather hasn't been too bad. It's raining intermittently, but the river in my front garden is at its "pre-flooding" level. I don't think we'll have any trouble getting this one on. Unlike Crawley, who haven't managed to stage a match at their pathetic dump for about 18 months. Tinpot doesn't even come close.

Matt.

Cheers Matt

Yes I see Crawley have played 7 games less than 1 team in their league that's crazy!

Okay, here’s some background information for Saturday’s game at Plainmoor at 3pm. The weather forecast for Saturday is a dry day with sunny periods, and with less rain than usual over the past few days, we can look forward to a much more reasonable playing surface, which will suit the players and make for a decent game of football.

Torquay United currently lie 23rd in the League Two table after 30 games, with 29 points. A win for the Gulls against our visitors Accrington Stanley could see us move up a place to 22nd, if Wycombe Wanderers lose their home game against Chesterdield. Stanley, also having played 30 games, are 20th in the table, just below Bristol Rovers, both teams on 34 points but Accrington with a worse goal difference of 7.

The Gulls’ last game was away to Chesterfield where they lost 3-1, a scoreline which I feel does not reflect the decent performance they put in for most of the game, considering the gulf between the teams in the league table. The team that day was: Poke, Tonge, Cruise, Mansell, Pearce, O'Connor, Goodwin, Lathrope (Sub. Downes), Stockley (sub. Wilkinson), Chapell (sub. Cameron), Labadie. Substitutes: Nicholson, Downes, Hawley, Cameron, Rice, O'Brien, Wilkinson.

Accrington’s last game was at home to Bury last Tuesday, which was a 0-0 draw. Accrington’s team was: Bettinelli, Hunt, Wilson (sent off), Murphy, Winnard, Aldred, Mingoia, Joyce, Odejayi (sub. Liddle), Webber (sub. Gray), Molyneux (sub. Atkinson). Substitutes: Liddle, McCartan, Hatfield, Gray, Windass, Atkinson, Bowerman.

Recent form:
These stats are probably meaningless, particularly with all the recent postponements, but here they are:
for Torquay United: P6 W2 D2 L2 F6 A6 Last six home: W1 D4 L1 F6 A7, and
Accrington Stanley: P6 W2 D3 L1 F8 A7 Last six away: W3 D1 L2 F7 A7

Referee:
The referee for the game is Simon Hooper from Wiltshire. In his last four games he has awarded 19 yellow cards and 4 red! Mind you, two of those games were in the Championship! http://www.soccerbase.com/referees/refe ... ee_id=1081

Whatever happens to the teams around them on Saturday, the Gulls will be intent upon securing a win against Accrington. This is a vitally important game for both teams in the struggle against relegation and it will not be an easy one. I think the Gulls will do enough to get that win; but they will need all the support they can get from the home crowd. And the weather will provide no excuse for not attending..

I'll be there and I may also enter the match report competition. Currently I am holed up in a delightful farmhouse in the Quantocks enjoying wifi, farm cats, a beer and watching the footy and I shall be making the shortish trip on Saturday, sitting in the bench, getting my reduced ticket for Hartlepool, spending in the club shop and and thoroughly enjoying my first trip to Plainmoor this season (I have been to 12 away games so far though) so I'm forgiven.

We'll beat Accy because of all the times I've been to Plainmoor I've not seen us lose yet PLUS I'm NOT having a bet on us.

As I have chosen to sit in the bench like a loner and not see the usual mob then I'm afraid my angelic singing voice will be absent for this game. My throat deserves a break anyway this season. I may not be able to stop myself blurting out the odd uncontrollable shout of encouragement but as a general rule this game is one for me to sit back, relax as best I can and take it all in and hope we get the win.

Can't wait, soiling myself in anticipation already and roll on Saturday !! COYY!!!!!
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.
