I'll be there. It's what we do isn't it? I'll not be purchasing a season ticket, but I'll be there more often than not. Are people seriously going to lose interest in football, just because the opposition are less notorious and away fans non-existent? It's still the same game. I reckon once most people get over sulking about the fact we got relegated, they'll be back.

Any true fan will be there whatever league we are in, man utd torquay or halifax town it matters not, its in your blood to support your team, there is no reason why we cant get promoted iut of the conferance if we drop, we have done it before and we can do it again, look at the shit the gargs fans have put up with in the last 5 years, do you think they would desert there club, no of course not , thats why they have constantly hit 6000 gates even when they were on the brink.they have true supporters.
Sorry RR, you can't play the true fan card here. I've been a season ticket holder for 8 years now, I've said it and meant it, I'm not going to renew my season ticket for conference football, those last 8 season tickets I've brought for me and the lad (including relegation and both previous conference seasons) come to just over £2500, does that make me any less of a fan because I wont renew for the conference, or any more of a fan, than the next lad who has never brought a season ticket, no on both counts, there's a lot of true fans out there, that would to go, but can't afford to.
Right now being honest, I'm feeling annoyed , gutted, embarrassed and pretty roundly kicked in the teeth at our clubs position, one I feel could have been avoided , I do live a full and happy life as well, so no one need for anyone to tell me there's more to it than football.

Agreed, the higher we get through the gates the better, one factor that'll contribute to our stature in the conference. I for one, will be there.ROADRUNNER wrote:Any true fan will be there whatever league we are in, man utd torquay or halifax town it matters not, its in your blood to support your team, there is no reason why we cant get promoted iut of the conferance if we drop, we have done it before and we can do it again, look at the sh*t the gargs fans have put up with in the last 5 years, do you think they would desert there club, no of course not , thats why they have constantly hit 6000 gates even when they were on the brink.they have true supporters.

ThaTs fine forever I understand that, wexall have families and other interests in life and I have a few and a family to support so I know what your saying, but from my point of view I have supported this club since 1965 and I wont stop because some ass has messed things up, I have seen the good and the bad times and there has been more bad than good but I will always stand by this club as long as its here which maybe not long if the this club goes the way of the likes of scarborough, as if the fans desert then that will happen, dont think for one minute that im not angry, fustrated and pissed off like many on here, I most definataly am, but that wont stop me from supporting the club I love.

I fully agree in return RR, I respect your view point, also I am not saying I will never buy another season ticket, and will go along to some games next season.

There are not really enough options on the survey.
Living in Essex I tend to get to a couple of home games a season and five or so aways (only Dagenham & Wimbledonn so far this season but am going to Cheltenham & Southend & will do some or all of Bristol, Exeter & Mansfield if we are still fighting to stay up).
If Torquay are relegated it won't affect the number of games I go to at Plainmoor and because there are a lot of Conference clubs in the south east I'd probably go to more away games.

I won't ever stop supporting the club, I just won't renew the ST or go to as many games as I have in previous years.
Who knows? 3 points on Saturday and perhaps we'll get a little more optimistic.
TUFC never fails to let its fanbase down.

But their 6000 is a bit different to the 12000 they got in the Championship.ROADRUNNER wrote:Any true fan will be there whatever league we are in, man utd torquay or halifax town it matters not, its in your blood to support your team, there is no reason why we cant get promoted iut of the conferance if we drop, we have done it before and we can do it again, look at the sh*t the gargs fans have put up with in the last 5 years, do you think they would desert there club, no of course not , thats why they have constantly hit 6000 gates even when they were on the brink.they have true supporters.
Gates will drop in the Conference, perhaps by half if we fail to perform. Whether it is in your blood or not, paying £20 to watch a shit team playing non-league football, is only something people with nothing better to do will probably bother with.
This notion of 'true fan' annoys me. So does a 'true fan' jeopardise their personal finances, sacrifices time with their family simply to live up this notion of being a 'true fan' or one who is better than another? The notion of the 'loyal supporter' and the emotional blackmail that the connotations of the term attach to it, have been exploited by clubs for so long. Bateson used to do it by saying 'South Devon doesn't deserve a league team' passing the buck onto fans, trying to scaremonger people into going. As if supporters owe the club something.
When does the responsibility switch to the clubs? Ultimately, football is a product. TUFC are not doing badly because the of the fans. They are doing badly because the product is crap and nobody wants to watch it and the odd decent season tends only to punctuate the dirge we normally suffer. True fan, loyal supporter, why should anyone bother with that?

If we end up back in the conference, so be it. We deserve to go down this season I won't have any complaints if the worst happens.
As for will I still attend? Absolutely will I attend. Torquay United will always be my club and I don't care if we're in the conference, league 2, even if we ever dropped down to the local leagues for whatever reason, I will always be a Torquay United supporter.
Hopefully BT sport renew their conference deal and who knows, we may get a few TV showings, especially if we're doing well.
Still 39 points to play for, it's not over yet (but it's getting close)

For the matter of going to see games getting relegated will actually help me.
I'm a Torquay who lives no where near Torquay, I live in Warwick (so a 3 hour drive) and the nearest League 2 away game to me is Northampton 50 minutes away, after that it's Burton, Cheltenham and Oxford which are all an hour away.
If we get relegated then I could go see our games at Nuneaton, Kidderminster and Tamworth which are all closer to me than Northampton (although Tamworth look like they're gonna get relegated, but then again Solihull Moors could get promoted and then they'll be closest of all).
Anyway it shouldn't matter what level we play at, we are supporters of the club, not the league.
