So they're going to pick a 'demographically representative' audience and with an equal number of people for and against British membership of the EU. Given that, according to opinion polls over a longish period of time, only a third of the British public want us to stay in the EU, how is that going to be a representative audience?
Anyway, no matter; looking forward to Farage v Clegg.
Farage will crucify him..!! :~D

Fair play to Clegg for agreeing to do this, but, as said, Clegg is going to get destroyed in this debate. Farage v Clegg bit like picking on the little kid that can't fight back.

My understanding was that it was Clegg who wanted the debate. As you should never challenge somebody to a debate if you already hold the high ground, I think it is an indication as to how vulnerable our Deputy Prime Minister (already over promoted) is feeling. Clegg did well in the pre-election debates with Cameron and Brown from his position as underdog. This time? Farage will wipe the floor with him!forevertufc wrote:Fair play to Clegg for agreeing to do this, but, as said, Clegg is going to get destroyed in this debate. A battle of wits between two unarmed opponents. Might as well watch two kids from the special school debate quantum physics.
Clegg'll trot out a load of party political statements such fail to address any of the issues raised in the question and Farage will blame everything on 'those pesky foreigners and all the shifty darkies'.
We'll learn absolutely nothing of any value at all.
Matt.

I'm really not surprised through your arrogance that you'd be ignorant enough to call UKIP racist.

No, you're quite right, Farage is well known for his love and tolerance of foreign nationals. Wasn't it he who said we should double immigration because he couldn't get enough of Romanians?
I'm amazed he hasn't been knighted for services to international relations...

Cheap shot, Matt.
It isn't racist to raise concerns that immigration costs native Brits the chance of gaining employment and cheaper social housing.

If you're being outdone at a job interview by a goatherd from Romania who smells of turnip and speaks no English, that's not the fault of immigration policy.

Too simplistic a viewpoint to let you get away with that.ferrarilover wrote:If you're being outdone at a job interview by a goatherd from Romania who smells of turnip and speaks no English, that's not the fault of immigration policy.

Immigrants will do the skilled and semi-skilled jobs at a fraction of the cost and usually at a fraction of the quality so you hardly ever go up against them at an interview no matter how much you would love that to be so. Sure, some of them work hard but then so do a high proportion of native Brits. All that has happened is that johnny foreigner can do the job for less by cutting corners that a reputable tradesman can't, I see the results on a daily basis. This is definitely a fault of the policy you can't find fault with. Maybe when you go out into the big wide world you'll gain enough everyday experience to realise what is plainly staring you in the face.

And what's more, many contracts in the UK are undertaken by foreign companies based abroad in the EU, who bring in their own workers from abroad who are hired abroad and paid abroad, thereby circumventing UK employment laws and the minimum wage, and excluding UK workers from these jobs. All thanks to the EU, which ignores UK democracy and makes 70% of our laws, even laws which are made by us in the UK are ignored.
Just one more reason to vote UKIP.

Millions of British workers are earning less than they were ten years ago because of the mass oversupply of the labour market.
