Manse and Nico have been very important players for our club and I thank them from the bottom of my heart. Their personalities are great for a club. It was always their voices you could hear at training, providing the praise, laughter, encouragement and the banter. It is so important to have these kind of players in a club. Who will step into that role?

They get singled out week after week and others carry on being played and cheered on when clearly worse! Benyon, Cruise and Tonge stand out!!!
Both are leaving the club after 7 years at Plainmoor and the place wont be the same without them so from myself, good luck guys and thank you

I agree with you. And I can just imagine how Juan behaved. Both of these players deserve our thanks and I wish them well.

Mansell is in talks with Truro and unlikely to sign on again here.

Thanks to both for the good times over the last 6/7 years

Surely Mansell's too good for Truro? He's still probably our best central midfielder, although admittedly that's like saying Happy is probably the tallest dwarf. I know he has a young family so probably wants to stay in the area but I'd be shocked if he dropped down to that level.

Probably is too good for Truro but it is convenient plus Tully and Wayne Carlisle are there. Wouldn't be surprised if Nico followed.

I read in the paper that truro have a big budget for next year and want to make an impact in the division, he may take this to stay in the area and with the reduction in wages at torquay if truro were to make an offer it may not be that far away as what torquay are paying.

Top Truro players can earn c£1000-£1200pm so half decent money if yuo have a part time job as well. Did I read a while ago that Mansell was re-training as a plumber/electrician for when he stops playing?

Separate the men, the service and the recent performances and you end up in a situation where you must thank the good men for their excellent service and lament that, perhaps, the relationship went on just one season too long, resulting in disappointing recent performances.

Taken as a whole, their service to the club has been wonderful, and they both certainly deserve our thanks and our gratitude for the role they each played in getting us back into the FL and keeping us there. Their part in taking us back down will, undoubtedly, smear those happy, full colour memories with a twinge of grey, but that's no reason to treat them harshly or without due respect.

Thanks to both for all they've done over the years. Let's just pretend that last year didn't happen and we'll part on ideal terms.

Matt.

Quite suprised that Mansell is going (if true) as he has been an ever present under Hargreaves.

Matt has got it about right IMO

I look forward to a more creative midfield next season, and of course having the captains armband up for grabs is an added incentive for a higher calibre player to join us.

Nothing against either player personally but "Legend" is a term used for Collins, Stubbs, Jack and Hill.....and with respect, certainly not for journeymen 4th division footballers.

Well, to me it seems like Jack for example has travelled a lot more than Manse and has played a lot less for Torquay as well.MidDevon, reading your comments throughout the last year or so, it is more than clear that you are not entirely honest when you say that you have nothing personal against any of the two players discussed in this thread. However, it is beyond me why is that..

I know this isn't my fight, but I'm curious to know...

Why do you think this? Is it not possible for Mid (or anyone) to simply not really fancy a bloke as a footballer without it being some personal vendetta? Is it not just possible that Mid (or anyone) prefers a creative tackle shirker over a leaden footed warrior?

By the same token, must we presume that anyone who has a special like for a particular player (perhaps in the way I like Craig) that it must be based on something personal? Must I have a relationship with Craig (about whom I waxed lyrical for two years before I actually met him) in order to like the way he goes about playing the game?

Matt.
