Points deduction?
Just posting to ask any of the more knowledgable Gulls out there if any of you know how many points we could be deducted for fielding Robinson v Hereford. Is there a standard number of points for such an event or does it depend on other factors? Cheers.
In the past, the only points deducted have been ones earned when the player in question has played.
I think there are a number of instances where the club has been deducted 3 points, but the team has also won the match in question.
Bury were deducted 1 point when they fielded an unregistered player and drew in that match.
In all cases I can find, the official reasoning given behind the points deduction has been that these points have been earned when the player in question has played.
So from this perspective, we shouldn't be looking at a points deduction at all - just a fine. Anything more and we should definately appeal as it would go against the precedent set beforehand.
Hereford should get 3 points deducted. Nothing will happen with goal difference, as it hasn't in any previous cases (unfortunately).

However, this is the second time we have done this, so may be treated harsher than normal.

Theres a 12 page topic on the very same subject here http://www.torquayfans.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=747
More likely to result in a bigger fine than a points deduction. The FA have never deducted points for an admin error outside of any games that the admin error may have seen to somehow benefit the team.scottbrehaut wrote:However, this is the second time we have done this, so may be treated harsher than normal.
Points deductions are only ever used as a last resort to correct for fairness - not used as an outright punishment - that's what fines are for.
Points deductions outside of this are reserved for fraud and administration.
