What late goals have cost us...
Not been a good 2011 for us in the league. In our last ten league matches going back to Oxford we have conceded late goals and lost points in FIVE of them.
Oxford - 90+1 1 point lost
Morecambe - 87 and 90+2 3 points lost
Gillingham - 87 2 points lost
Southend - 81 2 points lost
Cheltenham - 90+4 2 points lost
Early in the season Aldershot - 86 cost us another point and in the cup Reading scored in 120+1
So thats ELEVEN league points we have lost.....
As for us scoring from 80th minute onwards this season? Not a long list...!!!
Kee (Oxford) 89
Benyon (Wycombe) 88
Zebroski (Barnet) 90+2
In all of the above we were already winning so nothing gained.
The only goal where we have picked up anything is Nico's 90+5 equaliser at Gillingham. even that was a miskick and went through the keeper but they all count.
So there you are if you are going to Accrington on saturday and it gets into the last 10mins and we are a goal down we will not score, use those 10mins for a quick getaway back home!!

Good work. Difficult to know what the solution is really, maybe bring on some fresh legs at the back around 70 mins?
I think lack of experience is key here.
That and the fact that Torquay have historically done this!

It's getting to the stage that it's not even a surprise any more.

I guy we were at the game with last night summed it up brilliantly - he used to be a Plainmoor regular but has lapsed somewhat now. His first away game for a few years, and he summised "It might be a completely different squad of players now, but some things never change!"
It does seem that no matter what we do - managers, players, formations - we just always seem to concede late goals. I just hope that our luck can change for the better, preferrably in the next 7-10 days!

It is an intrinsic part of being a TUFC supporter.Jeff wrote:I guy we were at the game with last night summed it up brilliantly - he used to be a Plainmoor regular but has lapsed somewhat now. Those that complain about it have not achieved the higher state of consciousness required to be a fully fledged member of the club....

It's definitely one of the most disappointing things about supporting us. Losing every week is one thing, that would be a lot easier to take, but conceeding late goals season after season has ruined far too many weekends.

Hopefully after a bad run of late goals we can maybe get one or two ourselves for a change
Nice to see Bucks agrees!Richinns wrote:I think lack of experience is key here.

Fantastically well-put that man! It still always stings, but that's Utd for you.yellow wrote: Those that complain about it have not achieved the higher state of consciousness required to be a fully fledged member of the club....

I've read these two posts with interest.jonnyfive wrote: Fantastically well-put that man! It still always stings, but that's Utd for you.
Some among us can have their whole weekend f*cked up by 90 minutes of TUFC. Not me, no, I'm already f*cked up and that's before TUFC and/or Magners.
A win however, does give a better edge to a f*cked up state of mind/weekend.

I remember at cheltenham either awayday or SG said we've let goals in late this season a lot of times and i wouldnt be supprised if we did the same!happytorq wrote:It's getting to the stage that it's not even a surprise any more.
Soon as they scored i looked at both of them in disbelief.
