I till can't get my head around the fact (not theory) that Benyon was once sold [by us] for £125,000.

And to add to that, we all complained that we weren't getting enough for him.

Apparently we've signed a centre back from Port Vale today. No name, but reliable source. Also said centre forward in the morning and five in by Tuesday.

Got to say, I like the way Torquay are going about their business so far. Paul Cox is a breath of fresh air and I hope it continues.

Looking through their squad it's most likely to be Aziz Deen-Contah (22, predominantly plays as LB) rather than any other defenders. Nathan Smith looked a likely possibility until I read he'd recently agreed a two-year contract.

All speculation of course!

Think PC has made some very useful additions especially in the fullback positions. However claiming Exodus is better than Downes already is a little "too" far in my opinion. I also agree replacing Bowman's goals might be an issue for this current 11 but only time will tell.

I don't think its fair to compare last seasons team with this seasons side yet. I think there is still an awful lot of business to be done.

Now is the time where people who have been on trial at L1/L2 clubs are getting told they won't be offered anything, so suddenly there will be a lot of players scratching around for a deal who maybe wouldn't have looked twice at us before. Also, when teams are sending players out for a 6-month/season long loan there is a tendancy for them to spend pre-season with the parent club before being shipped out later in the window.

PC has already done more than what I'd expected of him in the transfer market, so hopefully he can work more wonders. Late deals won't help our team gel for the season start, but it seems PC is always thinking of the long game so keep the faith

Paul Sturrock has now signed 15 players for Yeovil ..!! Makes Paul Cox seem like a paragon of prudence..

How long before Yeovil runs out of money..?? :-/

joe quigley, bournemouth youth team striker, 6ft,2, promising striker, played on loan at poole last season, could be on his way to us on loan.

"Quigley’s style is to play with his back to the goal, keep possession with link-up play, head home the occasional cross and work in heavy traffic inside the box."

Sounds good :-D

Is this from a source close to the club?

I don't know if Roadrunner is 'a source close to the club' but when he imparts his words of wisdom, you can rely on them being correct. In fact, if he comes on here and gives us a tip for the 3.30 at Newton Abbot tomorrow, get a tenner on it ;-)

The proof of the pudding will be in the eating i suppose, we've lost 3 wingers and signed one who is beyond raw coupled with losing Bowman and replacing him with unproven guys and Fairhurst whose highest return ever was last season's 13. Read earlier that Marsh scored goals for Welling he did but he also didn't score a single goal for Ebbsfleet in the division below after that so swings and roundabouts.

Think in the full back positions you can definitely make a case for so far so good and hopefully they turn out to be better than we had, everywhere else though are literally gambles. Some will work if we're lucky but I suppose it's where we are at as a club right now.

But we aren't playing with wingers are we? I've not been to any of the pre-season games but from what I understand it's pretty much a 5-2-3/3-4-3, wither way it's just wing-backs out wide.

Fenwick can also play wide (left or right) and in fact from reading about him that is his most natural position from his past performances.

I suspect he and Murombedzi are options to change the shape and formation should plan A (3-5-2 / 5-3-2) be going badly.

For me we need:
For me:
- A big striker (hinted at by the lad from Bournemouth who might be arriving on loan).
- Cover for right back (and ideally a player who could also cover the left back should we have an injury to Butler).
- A central mid (preferably an break-up play/tough tackling type who has some experience as we have a very young squad).
- A keeper (again experience would be ideal but it look more like a youngster by judging who is/has been on trial).

That would be 21 and Cox has previously said he wants 20 (so perhaps we might be lucky to see all four arrive?).
