TORQUAY United are poised to announce the loan signing of young Derby County midfielder Ben Pringle.
Pringle, 22, a former WBA trainee, has made 23 first-team appearances for the Rams, but the Gulls hope to have him available for tomorrow s home game against Stevenage.
He's fairly regular in the championship - seems like a good signing on paper. But then Derby are having a pretty poor season so he might not be all that, plus do we need another midfielder really? Forward please mr Buckle!
Maybe Bucks is looking at keeping Manse at full back, in our conference season I thought he was immense there, and with Stanley, Oastler and now Pringle I think we've got a strong midfield. Oastler, bound to make mistakes being young (like the rest of our squad) but I rate him highly. Stanley is also a cracking player, although I agree, a big centre forward is needed.
My thoughts too Royal. If he's not quite good enough for the Championship yet, a couple of levels down he could prove to be quite valuable for us.
Off to sneak a look at the Derby forum.
Hello, Derby fan here. Just thought you'd like a fans view on Ben Pringle. I think he'll be a good signing for you. We're having a shocking season (i'm sure you've noticed!) and this is mostly due to Clough playing most of his outfield players in the wrong positions - for no good reason. Since signing for us Clough has played Pringle at times wide left (!) and more recently left back! :0 .
Pringle is a center midfielder all day long. He's busy and always wants the ball and looks to link with others around him. He's a tidy player.
At the moment his confidence is shot (as is most of our squad) probably through being played out of position. Some Derby fans would probably see him as a failed signing for us but most would agree that he's still 'one for the future' and with the right manager, could develop.
All in all I hope he does well for you. I think he will. Good luck for the rest of the season.
